    Trailer Idea

Since I will be parting out a deuce soon I have been contemplating using the frame and 105 axles installed in the walking beam suspension of the donor deuce frame. It would be lighter than using the pull axles and the brakes should hook up. The standard bed could be used and it would make an...

    M-275 top end

Travis, It's the same gear pattern as my other deuces......could the tranny itself have taller gears? I'll crawl under it tomorrow and check the tag. Thanks for the ideas. NDT, I will not be pulling heavy loads, just one of my vans to shows and rallys. But I like the 915 idea...

    old yella M62 wrecker

The last time I was over that way there was a deuce in his yard so I guess he did trade it for "Old Yeller". I hope he makes it to the GA rally this year.

    M-275 top end

I seem to be keeping up with the flow on two lanes......on the four lane I still get passed but that is because most of the people are in a bigger hurry than I am. I try to keep it around 60 to save fuel and wear and tear on the engine. I guess I could check the tags on the diffs and see if...

    M-275 top end

I've made two recovery trips in the deuce tractor and it seems like it has more top end than a regular deuce. At 2400 RPM I am running (according to the speedo) over 60 MPH......since the engine is turned up to 2800 it would seem that my top speed would be close to 70. Any ideas or comments? I...

    GL getting faster now.

Pete.......it is official...you are addicted. Go ahead and say it........"I'm Pete and I'm an MV addict". Admitting you have a problem is the first step in really going off the deep end. :-D

    S-280 shelters in Winchester VA

I have talked to scrappers about shelters and trailers and most of them tell me they are too much of a PITA to scrap due to the foam insulation between the inner and outer skins. Maybe the guy just wants to hold them until someone offers a real high price.

    Wrecker questions

I have around 6K invested in my 816 (purchase price, new engine, transportation costs and misc expenses). It is still ugly as home made sin but it is a good runner. Crane works great. I would not take less that 8K for it and that would only be to stave off starvation. I wanted one for many years...

    New guy in Enterprise AL

Welcome to the loony bin.:cookoo: If you have no plans for Labor day I am the host for the event near Gadsden....if you show up in an MV you get in free to the rockcrawler event. There are several events planned for Sat that will be of interest. I think FreightTrain is going to see if he can...

    crew cab AND bobbed!

I would look at getting a crew cab International or similar civilian cab and transplanting it onto the 5-ton frame....more opportunities for creature comforts. Paint it camo and call it good.

    Fur in the fuel tank

I am only slightly brilliant:-D.......most of my knowledge is from the School of Hard Knocks:roll:. The longer I play with these trucks the more I learn and the more I learn to love them.

    Tire safey after flat

The only actual ring failure mishap I was witness to happend back in the 70's at our motor pool in Germany. There was no tire cage in that motor pool (this was back when we fired weapons without hearing protection) and some guys were changing a 5 ton tire out on the asphalt. They put the tire...

    Stopping Distance

This is why I will not drive anything smaller than a compact pick up truck. I try to avoid the clueless idiots of the world but I will not put my life in danger to protect the terminally stupid. If you run off the road to miss some gonzo he is probably not got to stop and see if you are...

    springer seat

Lose the bench seat...two springers with highback buckets (out of a rice burner) in place of the stock seats add a touch of Redneck class to the interior of a deuce. The photo is of a springer I had recovered using a "GP Tiny" shelter half. The guy that recovered it did a great job of...

    Tire safey after flat

Maybe we need to have a tire seminar at the GA Rally. I'll bring the mattock and the soapy water......anybody got a portable tire cage????

    Fur in the fuel tank

That gentlemen is shelac....it is what is left after the liquid part of the fuel evaporates. The algae mentioned above grows in the liquid fuel itself. It is a bitch-kitty to get out of a tank...think a few pounds of pea gravel and a way to rotate the tank slowly for a few hours. Since there are...

    Tire safey after flat

If you ran it flat any distance the stem is prob sucked inside the tire now.....if not you can try to air it up using the above precautions. Also, as stated above, there is a reason it is flat. Slow leak, punture, dry rotted tube. If you have never had the pleasure of dismounting these tires...

    1 micron

I have been known to change oil in one of my vehicles and pour the used oil right into a deuce fuel tank......no probs so far in any truck. There are three filters on the deuce......I figure that the fuel is pretty clean by the time it gets to the IP. Your milage may vary.

New Exaust For My Deuce :)

That's a nice bob job. It certainly is..........ORANGE, Reminds me of my old Allis Chalmers WD-45 tractor.
