Hotshot update :!:
I met a guy yesterday that has a hotshot rig and goes nationwide for two bucks a mile plus fuel surcharge. :D
Now....buy a trailer so I can bid on the 5-ton tractors.
Two of these could be hauled on a "Hotshot" rig. That is a commercial dually pickup with a gooseneck trailer. They haul small loads and are always looking for back hauls. Check the truckstops in your area for load boards where loads are posted. I can check around here and see if there are any...
YOU HAVE A HETT?????
YOUR OWN PERSONAL HETT?????The green eyed monster is kicking my butt. ARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH aua
You must be single or married to the most understanding woman in the world. 8)
Do you have a way to make it pay for it's self? Do you write it off you taxes...
I bought the connex out of Jacksonville, FL. It was listed in a general sale, you just have to scroll through all the items at a location you are close enough to to bid on.
I looked at the pictures and bid on it sight unseen. When I went to pick it up I found it had some rust and the right door...
Some people are using nitrious but that can get expensive and in AK may be hard to get.
You might consider propane injection to give you a boost, there are fairly inexpensive kits out there or if you are a good fabricator you might do it yourself.
Or if you really want to pass those slow moving...
I have purchased a set of axels. a huge gearbox and a 20 ft. Connex from GL. My only complaint is with the 10% Buyers Premium they slap on. It can run the cost up on a big ticket item. I never had any problem with picking up items or with paperwork. If you are close enoung to go check out items...
The landing gear does fold up. It does not have the crank feature that allows you to lower the ring onto the hitch. You have to muscle this one on and off.
I have the tools and technology to get them to work since they are probably frozen from not having been used for several years...
Jwaller, I am watching (drooling over) the 818's at WR in GA also.
The price depends on who is interested and how much they want to invest.
My gut feeling is that some commercial outfit will auto-bid on all of them and may be willing to outbid the "little guy" to get these vehicles. They seem to...
I got one of the chemical shelter trailers back to my shop Thursday. I also got to do a lot closer check of the rest of them.
Only two of them have everything listed in the TM (one of them I have here). The rest are missing the door unit and other various pieces.
Most of what is missing was...
Since it is from the "Land of Northern Aggression" and it gets colder that a well diggers butt up there, it may be to inject alcohol into the air lines to keep them from freezing up the brakes. A lot of older commercial rigs had this feature way back when.
Just my WAG. :)
Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Where is it located now? Have you posted pics? Maybe someone could buy it and save you the shipping cost. Just my thoughts.
Ya gotta love a guy that has his own fighter plane. :D
My goal in life is to die with that much stuff in my yard.
I told my kids that whatever they inheirit will be a direct result of their yard sale skills.
If you are refering to me Ryan, I have never erected (or seen for that matter) one of these units. I discovered them while scrounging for MV's at a boneyard near me. I have an option on all of them until the end of the year.
The TM says it is a four man lift to take the storage platform off the...
Littlebob. Since these trailers don't seem to be attracting a lot of interest I will probably have them for a while. :(
The old lady is already honing her razor sharp tongue (I told you so). :x
I have never done Ebay so I guess they will be sold by word of mouth, local advertising and of...
I don't want to throw cold water on what seems to be a good idea but you might want to consider the suspension on a duece.
I have driven many a road tractor with spring suspension and they will beat your teeth out on a good road. The longer the wheelbase the better the ride.
Anybody riding in...
I went through the TM posted above by NEIOWA (thanks again) and it looks like it is at least a four man operation since the top storage rack has to be removed (four man lift).
The door unit weighs two hundred pounds.
If the weather damage is too severe I may just strip them down to the...
Since I am busier than a three-legged dog at a flea circus I have not had time to even haul one to my shop.
I'm taking two days off this week and will get one over there.
From looking at them I think everything is still there although very much weather worn.
I'm eager to see if the...
NEIOWA.....thanks much. That will help if I decide to erect one of these things. I can print it out at work (your tax dollars at work).
I don't think the intent was to have enough of these shelters for every Joe. Probably key leaders and HQ personnel. The rest of us poor slobs had to dig a...
