When I installed the bilstein shocks on my stock height 86 1009 I also felt jaded, the ride was harsh and jarring.I crawled under truck to check things out. Everything looked normal. Told a buddy about it and he said give the shocks a few hundred miles they will settle down and they actually...
If this is the same 1009 you have owned for nearly 3 and a half years and have not been able to figure out the basics , it might be time to listen to the wife and sell it.
I have been driving my 1009 with 33s and 4.56 gears for 3 years, any time I see the letters OD transmission in the same sentence as a 6.2 diesel I get excited. If only they were common. Almost the same gear ratios as 700r4.
I also recently installed 4 bilstein yellow and blues on my 1009, they were very stiff for about 300-400 miles. They are much better now. I plan on replacing springs with factory rates front and rear this summer, also going with ord greaseable bushings on everything. And 1" zero rates front and...
NP 440/ NP 883. It is a 4 speed manual transmission. With 4th being a. 73 od. Gm option code MY6. Came in 81-87 full size trucks.2wd and 4wd. The 4wd models were cast iron cases,2wd aluminum. About the same gear ratio in 1st and 2nd as a 700r4. Would be great with a set of 3.73- 4.10 gears. I am...
White puffs from filler tube is normal at idle, if it still puffs smoke at 1500 rpm and above not normal. Its also nice when you do an upgrade like rear discs to offer up the company used ,part numbers, and how install went .
On 2 occasions I have had broken starter bolts stuck in the block, both times I used a left twist drill bit, drilled into center of the bolts and they spun right out. I have learned to climb under truck and check bolts and support bracket every 4-6 weeks just to be safe.
Welcome to the site. If you look at the top right corner of the page you can find a box labeled Google custom search, type in cucv 24v to 12v conversion. You will be amazed at how much information is in the archives here.I prefer 24/12v system because 24v draws half of the amperage as 12v.
You have posted 3 times, but not specified what MV you have cucv or m35a2 or both. It makes diagnosis easier. If a cucv, oil in coolant but no coolant in oil would suggest oil cooler in radiator let go. As Drock previously stated.
Been running that same style steel wheel for 90k plus miles, 60k with 33 x 10.5 tires and nearly 45k miles with 33x 12.5 tires. And I also run 1.5 " spacers on rears. No problems so far. My next set will be 16x8s for a much better tire size choice.
On my older 1009 I bought original lift shackles. They clunked around a bit, so I put these on front and rear. 10 ton tow strap, 3 ' cucv. Bought from gemco57 on ebay years ago.
