Thank you. That is incredibly useful advice. I love explanations like that on the care and feeding of these monsters, arguably one of the best motor vehicles ever created despite their flaws or, better, idiosyncrasies.
Beautiful job - I have worked with that stuff and it is not easy to get it done as perfectly as you have.
But you must admit the appearance is reminiscent of what Hugh Hefner's pajamas probably look like. ;)
I went six months with nothing - just the truck sitting. Started perfectly; could not tell it had been sitting.
Another 6 months with a Solargizer. Again, perfect.
Again, with 24v battery tender. Perfect.
This time trying both Solargizer and Battery tender. I expect no discernable...
I 'temporarily' removed the driver's seat back when I got my Deuce. That was a few years ago. I never replaced it - I just throw a folded Army blanket over the seat frame. Yes, I am basically sitting against steel (with some motheaten wool in between) but for whatever reason I am fine driving...
I understand what you are saying, and agree that it is confusing.
Here's the way I am thinking about it (and I could be mistaken as well):
Leaf springs are set up so that jounce (vehicle moving downwards) compresses the short leaves against the longer leaves 'above' them. So, as the spring...
Really nice.
What color/paint did you use?
Respectfully stated, I believe your front spring is upside down. It is compressing the short leafs instead of stretching them. This can cause a rougher ride than it should be and the main leaf would want to break (although it is a light vehicle).
I finally got around to using house paint on some of my equipment. I am repainting my M416, using Ben Moore 34097 from Ace. The color match to the original CARC is amazing, and application could not have been easier: brush it on, then go over it with a small foam roller to eliminate the brush...
Yes, that's correct, but from having used it I thought it might add some stiffness as well. Does the K Flex add stiffness? If not, perhaps first use the robber Dynamat and sandwich the K Flex on top. Sorry for harping but I am a Dynamat fan, having had good results with it (although not as...
How coincidental this is! I noticed the exact same thing on my G286 tires yesterday. At first I, too though it was a crack but it is just too symmetrical and the edges too smooth to be a failure. I don't know why the groove is there - perhaps it adds compliance under side impacts to make a...
What about Dynamat? They have several types available. I have used the foil-backed version to great effect on cab floors and walls. I have not tried it on a top, though. They have a black texture spray coating, too, used for covering nooks and crannies. If you did a neat joc of applying the...
I did not lean on him at all. I asked him to look up 24087 and he said nothing came up. I thanked him and moved on.
I was as nice as could be. He was surly. Life goes on.
