Installed Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge on MEP-803A

It's a good thing I installed the backup oil pressure gauge. The last two times I ran the unit for it's monthly test I returned to find the panel gauge below zero. The mechanical gauge was still reading above 20 and the unit was still running so it has oil pressure. Since my original install I...

    Alternative fuels in an MEP-003a?

The gas parts I used it on were a Bosch CIS fuel injection system. Common to Volvos in the late 70s, early 80s. I stuck the feed tube for the fuel pump into a quart of ATF and lifted the air flow sensor until it sprayed solid red out of the injectors. When I went to use the parts later they were...

    Alternative fuels in an MEP-003a?

I will warn you guys using ATF in anything other than automatic transmissions. I tried to pickle some gas fuel injection parts with straight, brand new, ATF once and it ruined them. I also mixed some with waste oil to use as a chain lube in one of my saws and found a solid rusty chain and bar...

    MEP Emergency Jump Starting

I'm thinking two cars should do it. I run mine monthly but that doesn't mean it will always start when I need it. I finally figured out my solar charge controller was actually creating a draw as was the original MIL controller that came on it. I just attached my solar panel directly to the...

    Cheap Gas 8000W generator

The DuroMax 10000 Watt Hybrid Dual Fuel Portable Gas Propane Generator is on sale for $499 delivered on ebay again. Never can tell how long the sale will last. Just wanted to share in case somebody needed a cheap backup. The one I bought my daughter last year ran for a 100 hours straight with...

It’s getting cold don’t forget to test your set

Haven't had to use mine in a winter setting yet. Depending on outside temp I may still be cold. All electric on a heat pump with 10KW heat strips. Will have to leave the heat strip breaker turned off. Realized when I got up I had turned off the heat strip breaker and left it off. House was 69...

    Homemade Load Bank

That unit says it includes the limit switches and circuit breakers. You might can eliminate the use of a load panel and just connect the line leads directly to the generator. The problem with doing it that way is having the wiring connections exposed. It may be possible to relocate the breakers...

    Homemade Load Bank

I don't think my model would be a good one to follow for your application. You should research further to fabricate a suitable 3 phase load bank. For switching I used a 100 amp load panel with 6 120v spaces. That gave me 3, 240 volt single phase circuits. I just use the breakers to switch the...

Has anyone come across a good equivalent coolant temp gauge for the MEPs?

You could always contact the different gauge MFGs and ask at what resistance their gauge should read 180 degrees. Best I can figure the installed sensor should be around 65 ohms at 180 degrees.

Has anyone come across a good equivalent coolant temp gauge for the MEPs?

I found this Datcon gauge listed for $47.51 but you will probably have to order their $12.83 sensor with it.

S-280 Shelter. How do I get Cellular/Radio Reception Inside?

We went through a spell of getting lightening damage. One bolt hit a tree 200 feet out, ran along the ground to a pair of trees I had a swing set on, blew the metal crimps off the nylon ropes on the swing set, ran a few more feet and blew two tires on the wife's car, came in the house and took...

    MEP report post Hurricane Michael

Great job helping those in need! I didn't do much in the way of physical help but I've made some donations. Sent some feed and diesel fuel to a couple of farms in gulf county by way of the person organizing animal aid. My daughter has made a few feed and hay runs to Blounstown. Our family...

    My MEP-803a experience

Just looked at my receipt and I bought 11' of 1/8" and 2' of 1/4" and had plenty. If you want to clamp the 1/4" hoses you can use zip ties.

    MEP 802A battery drain.

Disconnect the positive battery lead going to the starter, connect your multimeter set to the 10 amp scale with one lead on the battery terminal and the other on the cable end. This will tell you if it has a draw. If it does you can disconnect the power lead from the alternator to see if that is...
