    mep 803 WHY?

I would never invest 5 grand in a 803. You can get a brand spanking new 1800 rpm Perkins powered gen with modern controls for not much more. Propane is very inefficient and expensive from what I can tell. If you have other diesel equipment like a tractor then diesel makes more sense IMO. Easily...

    Wheels for my MEP-803a

I wish our metal recyclers would still sell to the public. Sadly neither of them do. Most likely some jackleg got himself hurt while perusing the stock and sued them.

    MEP-803A Noise

Here is the thread where I posted the video originally if you want to read the discussion there.

    MEP802A & MEP803A winterization kits

When I was younger and stupider I would light a couple of chunks of charcoal in a pan and slide it under my Triumph Bonneville for a spell. Made it MUCH easier to kick start.

    It finally arrived, MEP-803a

Mine came with the solar panel. I have seen quite a few with it.

    Homemade Load Bank

In hindsight I don't see any reason to under or over load a unit. My monthly test consists of visual inspection of components and fluid levels followed by warming the engine up then running for a couple hours with two of the 5400 watt elements turned on. After the run I look everything over...

    Homemade Load Bank

Taking out half the wire would increase the load. Connecting two 5400 watt elements in seris decreases the load. That is what I did on one of my circuits. They are currently showing out of stock but look at the Heater Deal thread. Buying one of those would be the way to go IMO. They also make...

    240V Heater Deal

For what it's worth my homemade load bank is similar in design and twice the output. I have always run it sitting on the ground and yet to have any problems.

    55 gallon drum pickup tube

The bung adapter will have to have a tube screwed into the bottom that is submerged in fuel. You need to monitor and make sure the tank float shuts the auxiliary pump off when it gets full. Pump the tank down until the auxiliary pump will run and connect to the external fuel supply. It should...

    240V Heater Deal

Too bad they are showing out of stock on the 7500 watt version. One 5000 and a 7500 would make a great combo but having two 5000s should be enough to work an 803.

    240V Heater Deal

Just came across this deal on a 5000 watt 208/240 heater. It has settings for 3000, 4000, and 5000 watts. $69.99 and free shipping on orders over $99. 2 of these would make a dandy load bank you can use as a heater to boot.

    Waterlogged 803a

Somebody has a bunch of junkers. GL had several pages of 803 parts machines that sold middle of last year from the Albany Ga site. Most of the sheet metal was damaged because they had them stacked two and three high. The few I followed went higher than I would have paid. They sold most of them...

    My MEP-803a experience

The Oklocknee River bridge between Thomasville and Cairo had a dozen accidents on snow day.

Ahhh! I thought your weather connection was seeing more in the future I wasn't getting.

    My MEP-803a experience

When is this snowpocalypse you speak of? My walmart batteries died in the last cold snap. Actually I think they were on the way out in November. I had noticed it was still charging at near 15 amps after running a couple of hours. When I went to start it and found them dead they were 1 day from...

Not a bad weekend for working on a few MEPs - fun with thermal imager

Don't think I could justify the cost of a thermal imager but I was running my unit without a load the other day and thought the next time I do my monthly test I would use the IR tester to get exhaust and block temperatures both with and without a load.

    My Mep-803a standby generator project

I like the look of these batteries with the terminals away from the block and covered. Are you having to pull them away from the engine with the tie downs to prevent them from contacting the unused engine mount tabs? My Value Power group 26 batteries fit okay for my use but when they fail again...

    Winter Storm Preps

I have never had a gelling problem in my tractors down here in FL but haven't had as much fuel on hand in the past as I keep now. I already put biocide and lubricity formula in my fuel so I figured and anti gelling additive wouldn't hurt. I got a bottle of the Power Service anti gel and cetane...

Price for a 803A in good shape

I don't think heat strips are required for normal heat pump function. Heat pumps come without them installed. Maybe it's because different sized are optional.
