License Plate for my 803 and trailer

HA! I towed boats with no tags for over ten years before I ever got pulled over for it. I got a couple of verbal warnings then I finally got cited. That cop only gave me a incorrect equipment type citation that just required me to get it fixed and send in a signed document stating it was done...

    MEP-803A Brass terminal nut inserts.

I would get that L3 wire off the ground lug. It may not happen or may take a very long time but if vibration wears through the insulation you will not be pleased with the results.

Instead of the fancy, expensive, slow blow fuse and holder I used an inexpensive inline holder from the auto parts store and put a fast acting 3 amp fuse in it. Have had this in place and logged 40 hours of usage with no problems.

Price for a 803A in good shape

Was just reading back through your post and noticed the quoted comments. I think you will find the 60 amp circuit is just the supplemental heat strips. You should have a 40 amp circuit that runs the actual heat pump/ac unit including the evaporator and condenser fans. My MEP will start and run...

    My Mep-803a standby generator project

Looks like you got the deal of the year. I have seen some crazy prices fetched for much worse looking machines since the last hurricane.

    803a Battery charge gauge ?

Tip: If it continues to show a high rate of charge after a long period of running your batteries are probably failing. I noticed mine never tapered off to zero during last months test and this month it was dead. The charge indicator stayed up around 10-15 amps. Thankfully my batteries were one...

    Going through auction 803a

Those ProFusion heaters at Northern look like a good way to go. If I were doing it over I would order one of the 5000 watt and one of the 7500 watt heaters and hook them together. Both have two load settings. Looks like about $250 for the two heaters shipped to my place.

Most sites I go to the bottom and click on "view whole site". Makes them work like a regular web site instead of the mobile version. This site included.

    Going through auction 803a

Here is my thread on the dryer elements version I built. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?163190-Homemade-Load-Bank

    Going through auction 803a

Cheapest load bank would be an electric range. Won't take up more space than the 55 gal drum you are considering. I made a fairly compact load bank using dryer elements and a 10" condenser fan. It wasn't as cheap or easy to build as a used electric range off of CL though.

    MEP-803A battery size

So much for cheap batteries. I turned the switch on my 803 this morning to see what the fuel gauge was reading (thought I smelled fuel). My value power group 26 batteries were dead as a doornail. One had less than a volt and the other had 10 volts. On the lucky side they were one day from being...

Who has a smart power meter on their home? Are you monitoring the data?

Never paid much attention to the display on mine. Had the "smart" meter for years. Logging into my account just provides a monthly graph. My usage on an all electric house is all over the place but naturally shifts up and down with the weather. I expect it to start the climb again.

    MEP-803A Brass terminal nut inserts.

Just measured across the threads on mine and it measured .982". Doesn't seem to match any of the "S" dimensions in the chart LID shared so I am missing something. If you have several units you plan to run in single phase only just rob the nuts off L2 and use them till your new ones arrive.

    MEP-803A Brass terminal nut inserts.

If you can find a local source with a good selection of split bolt connectors it may match up with one about .982" OD. Check your local electrical supply. You may have to buy the whole thing but I would probably just use a brass washer or something. Search that auction site for NSN...

So I called Faria Beede today...

I encountered something similar on my fuel and temp gauges. I think it is also possible to ground them internally if you over tighten the base nuts and cause the post to turn. I was able to get mine back in operation by double nutting the stud and tweaking it's position then hold it while...

Price for a 803A in good shape

Yeah you would have to add the $325 muffler kit but they have a drum kit for $129 and I think I could build an enclosure for way less than they sell them for.

Price for a 803A in good shape

Before you go crazy bidding on unknowns consider what you can purchase a brand new diesel generator for. Hardy Diesel Generators is one source to look at. Note that their units are either single or three phase but not both. They also price muffler and enclosure kits separate.

    55 gallon drum pickup tube

It should go in with the lock lever down. How far off is it from fitting?

So I called Faria Beede today...

What you may have to do is replace sending units and gauge to make them function properly. When I was trying to sort out my temp gauge I found a 24v VDO that would fit. I called them and they gave me a part number for the matching sender with an 1/8" thread.
