Sounds like everything is working out for you. Closing on a new to you house and moving is quite a chore without having to go pick up more generators than you bargained for. ;)
Is this an 803 on a trailer? How many hours on it? How much did you pay? Details man, DETAILS!
I have been known to cook a dead rat on an exhaust manifold if someone done me wrong. Just sayin. :x
Nice looking paint job!
You guys got me looking to see which S1 switch I have on my 01/07 made MEP-803A. Mine has a metal shaft switch. Unfortunately it doesn't have a visible part number on it.
Not an issue with the 803s. Just set it to run at 240 single phase. The unit is rated at 52 amps in 240V 1PH or 34 amps in the 208V 3PH setting.
In the 240V 1PH setting you connect the hot leads to L1 and L3.
It is on my mind but I don't forsee anyone else ever handling it other than me. I might change it out one of these days. I would have definitely gone that route if I found it in 50 amp when doing the original connection. For some reason back then all I could find in searches were the 30 amp...
At my house I went with a interlock kit on the panel and wired the breaker to a 50 amp RV box on the outside of the house. I also put a 50 amp RV box on the generator itself. I purchased a 36 foot RV cord off that auction site for about $100. It had 6 gauge wire for all 4 wires. I cut the female...
If that is just the auction fee your cost will go up from there. GL charges a 12% buyer's premium plus sales tax for the state/county the units are sold in.
These skids don't slide all that easy on metal. I had mine in the back of my pickup and winched it out onto a trailer for starters. After...
Sounds like you hit a lucky sale or bid too high on three units. Most of the sales I watch go way over what I would pay for one. I got lucky on mine and got one that was pretty good mechanical but looked like ass so the bidding didn't get too crazy.
My unit came with two rod sections, no hammer. My rods had some rust on them so I knew they weren't copper. I already had some 5/8" solid copper rod to use for grounding so the rods that came on mine just got bolted back under the frame.
I did a thread on the inexpensive diesel fuel pump I purchased.
I needed a little more reach on the hose and the limber pickup hose it came with was a pain so I made a pickup tube for my drums. A 2" pipe thread will screw right in the metal drum hole so I used a 2" NPT thread to slip fit...
I bought a pack of aluminum rivnuts but never got around to buying any screws or installing them. Unit is missing a few but probably won't come back apart JUST to try the rivnuts out.
Having seen what happens to SS in aluminum I don't expect that combination to work a whole lot better than...
I think I have my monthly generator test routine down pretty good now. I use the calendar in my cell phone to remind me to check it every second Sunday of the month
I open the doors, remove the radiator cap, and feed the tube for my antifreeze hydrometer into the radiator to check antifreeze...
