    My MEP-803A

Still waiting on my meters from china but finally finished my load bank and ran the unit under full load for an hour or so. Doesn't look like this one was wet stacked because it has very little smoking. The load percentage meter is reading high so it's about as good a indicator as the rest of...

    Homemade Load Bank

Finally got around to putting my load bank together and testing it. I used four 5400 watt dryer elements, hooking two of them in series to cut one circuit load in half. This makes the total theoretical load 13.5 KW. I bought a 100A six space panel to create three 240V circuits. I used two 25A...

    My MEP-803a experience

Operator's manual reads 25 to 60 PSIG. It also says the low oil pressure light comes on at 15 + or - 3. I wouldn't trust ANY of these gauges. I am half mind to tee into temp and oil pressure with mechanical gauges.

    MEP 805B display problem found.

These aluminum cases seem to promote condensation. My 803A had reset documentation in a sealed zip lock bag and it had about 2 cups of water in it. All the meters are corroded and rusted inside from moisture.

    803 Voltage Regulator

I wonder if one of these would be adaptable? http://www.northern-lights.com/media/PDFs/manual_pdfs/SX460.pdf

    My MEP-803A

Just did my first load test and looks like I have a functional machine. I only connected one 5400W dryer element for a quick test. My Fluke multimeter will measure hertz so I checked that with no load and it was 59.8. With one dryer element connected the load meter on the machine read a little...

    My MEP-803A

I measured voltage between L1 and L3. I don't think I will spend much time on these old meters. They all have signs of rust and corrosion inside from condensation. I took the volt meter apart and cleaned it out with WD40 so it moves free. Put it back in and it works but won't adjust to read...

    My MEP-803A

Did some testing this morning and confirmed a bad voltage meter. It had the same voltage at the meter terminals as it did at the output lugs and no movement on the meter.

Yep tried moving both several times.

What coolant & for MEP-802a? Precharged nitrite type or just green heavy duty type?

The easy path to the block drain is to disconnect the negative battery cable and roll the alternator out of the way. That Rotella ELC stuff turns out to be RED. Says it's silicate and sulfate free diesel rated antifreeze so I went ahead and used it. Strange that it only reads good to zero on...

    My MEP-803A

Repaired my fuel leaks, replaced radiator hoses, added antifreeze, and ran the unit for about 30 minutes. This is one sweet running engine and the generator is fairly quiet. Oil pressure remained just under 40 lbs and temperature settled in just under 180*...

    Printing MEP-004A TM9-6115-464-12.pdf

You can try these. I attempted to divide it in 4 equal parts. To get it to fit you will have to print in landscape and checkmark the box to print in original size from DPI instead of having it fit to page. You should be able to trim and tape it but the print is still small. Having the full page...

    Just picked up a 2009 MEP-803A

You have my sympathies. It's been in the 70s here until today when it crashed to about 55. :) Won't be working on mine any more till the weekend if I get the other hose I ordered.

    Printing MEP-004A TM9-6115-464-12.pdf

I have found the "print current view" option doesn't always include what I see but that is the first thing to try. Another option is to zoom till it fills the screen and push the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then you can open a photo editor and paste it. Then you can crop and print...

What coolant & for MEP-802a? Precharged nitrite type or just green heavy duty type?

Looked at this when I got home today. Looks like the best way to get at it is to remove the tension bolt completely and rotate the alternator down out of the way. I decided to get the Rotella ELC antifreeze.

    Just picked up a 2009 MEP-803A

Found the 3 ground rods on mine but no sign of the couplers and cable. Inventory sheet showing my unit had this complete as well as a long auxiliary fuel hose and the bung adapter. It has the hose and adapter but the tube for the adapter is not to be found either.

    Just picked up a 2009 MEP-803A

I stuck group 24 marine start batteries in mine. They fit the pans perfect but just barely contact the two unused mount tabs on the block. I put a piece of cardboard between the tabs and batteries but I may pull them out and grind those tabs down a little. They sure spin the heck out of it.
