my trucks are also all stock , 0 problems , the more you mess with it the more problems will follow and when you try to sell your vehicle do not expect top dollar,
the point of the service/parts information is that you must know if your switch is heavy enough for the starter you are running , DO NOT ASSUME , it's good to see more members reading this very important thread,
everyone that owns a CUCV needs to read this service/parts bulletin and print it off , this info is VERY important or you can ignore it and watch while your truck burns!
you need to do some detective work and figure out where the oil went , check your cooler lines, and take a look in the rad and see if your cooler blew,
get the truck in a warm building , change the oil and see what you see (Rotella winter grade oil), charge the batteries, check the pre-glow system, change to a normal block heater, and get a plug in timer so you don't need to have it plugged in all night , do these first before you go further ...
I think you need to loose that pump heater and install a normal block heater, and last time I checked Maine is still part of the lower 48, that cost per night makes no sense, is there a story there?
it also sounds to me that this truck does not have a block heater , you need to install a good quality one at the same time you can install some battery blankets , saves your batteries , starter and everything else in the motor that the cold will affect,
cucvrus, I'll take the cable, now for the cable going to the rear of the truck , I find that odd, do you have cable loops bolted to the frame on the pass side under the cab? can you also post photos of all the holes in the bed?
The Canadian army has plates on all vehicles , the bracket was fitted to the rear bumper support on the driver's side , that places the plate just under the rear of the truck and does not block the B/O lights or any other equipment,
Factory power cable for M1008 or M1028 radio rack in the cargo bed, you should have factory holes in the front half of the cargo bed and a power plug hole in the pass side interior of the bed side, the holes in the floor have captive nuts for bolting the rack to the bed floor, I believe these...
this is the northern solution , make sure the interior is rust free and clean , no factory floor covering , promotes rust like crazy, use a good product ,paint it , then oil spray the **** out of the truck, pack the cab corners with grease, we use Krown up here , all the Ziebart plugs come out...
I'm north of you and I do get this , have you checked all your weather strip for condition also check to see if the rubber weather seal is there for the inner door handle , one other thing you can do in remove the door panel and glue vapor barrier plastic to cover the openings in the door , GM...
