I also have a M-1031, with you guessed the very same issue , start at the rear bumper plugs and check your power there and take where it leads you , I 'll be digging into my truck more after the long weekend , no time now,
hope the US army still has good combat boots, that will be their last option, Canada still has the MLVW (M-35) in service , the last good truck! but I know we have good combat boots!
Tactical trucks are supposed to get you on and off the battle field ALIVE! they need to stay dumb under the hood and dash, keep the computers in the targeting and comms systems , as for the CUCV I have always wondered why they never tried putting one together using a entire electrical system...
I can shed some light on the Canadian Forces numbers as follows:
total 491 all models
total Cargo with winch 38 ECC 123525
total Cargo with troop heater 43 M-1008A1 I believe these were also equipped with the radio rack in the cargo bed
total M-1010 65 ECC 123527
total (M-1028) ? 17 Fitted with...
I started as a Rad-op in 81 with a Reserve unit out of Fort York, got out in 85 due to my Civy job, spent 36 years with Mercedes-Benz , went back in 90 and re-badged to EME,
stayed with 709 Comm Regt the whole time, was not a happy camper after the G-Wagon showed up we had the contract at work...
just for info the brush guard on this truck has been modified to bolt to the top of the bumper and in fact the entire assembly is a Warn product, went out this morning to see if the glow system works and it does , wait light went out and truck started no problem , oil change and filters and...
MRT - Mobile Repair Team ie. guys that turn wrenches
Rad Van - Radio Truck , with the CDN pod in place of the cargo bed
take a look under Canadian CUCV or 1976 Chevy 5/4 (the first CUCV)
oboyjohn, what was your unit and do you have any photos? we will be doing 3 CUCV's , Line, Cratts (Ratt Rig for you guys down south) and a Rad Van, I think we have a truck to slide under the Cratts pod, need to see if it will run , take a look at my other post (2 more come home) , it sounds like...
The truck had a lot of rust and sheet metal issues but we knew that going into the project, as we removed panels we found still more rust and have been dealing with these as we go, when done the truck will be very solid with NO bondo, the line superstructure also came with the vehicle and is a...
yes only 38, it appears that the front bumper may be a Warn product , the center part is for sure , it has the Warn "W" stamped into it , they also placed a decal hidden under the driver's sun visor , a little bit of advertising, the winch was a model 8074 and 8274, I remember seeing 2 of these...
today was a good day , after 2 days work on and off the bubba truck barked back to life today , I don't think this truck has run in 5-6 years , removed all the extras and repaired or replaced some electrical items , 2 new batteries and started cranking , plugged the block heater in first thing...
just picked up 2 M-1008 cdn , one winch truck , one comms truck , both ex UN Mission trucks, most likely Somalia or Bosnia, both are not happy trucks , the bubba truck (lift kit) will most likely be parted out , I do not think I will find anything good inside the axles, started tearing out all...
best thing I can say on your vehicle is check your vehicles history with the Ministry and post photos of all of your data plates , you should have a U.S. Property plate on the driver's side door post, judging by the colour on the firewall , you may have an original that has gone to the civy side...
I have collected a large number of photos from GL of CMT's and it's amazing how many different camo patterns turn up , this is how this truck served and that's how I would like to restore it, my time in the Canadian Forces also showed that our army did the same thing when it came to paint, this...
as you can see the tailgate and driver's door are from different vehicles, parts of the paint job are sprayed and some are brush, hood was NOS and not painted so I have no pattern for the hood , I'll have to guess for the replaced parts,
