You can indeed legally own it and drive it on the road in the UK. The M113 is actually less expensive in the UK than the US as many were sold from NATO stock that cannot be returned to the US. BENELUX countries sold off a bunch a few years ago and they were very reasonably priced. Not as cheap...
That's not quite true. President Johnson was the first to publically mention the RS-71, which he mistakenly called the SR-71 and the name was changed. That was 1965. Bush was CIA director in 1976.
This is a great thread but so long...I've tried to read it all. Three questions: 1. So at this point, what is the thoughts on durability? 2. What do you use as primer on bare metal? 3. Can you choose the finish as in eggshell vs. flat etc.?
Here is an airborne model that was at the MVPA Convention in Portland, 2008. It was from Ft. Lewis. Very nicely done with most of the same mods done on the Ranger versions.
I made it up Friday for a while. Great show. Got my stuff from Matt. Found some other cool stuff. I'll be back next year for sure. As for the Huey rides, it goes to Knob Creek too. The ride there is over the Kentucky forests and north side of Ft. Knox. Really awesome.
