well, 726 miles, 15 hours and a quick stop to remove about a 2 pounds of mud from the inside of one of my front wheels, I finally made it home. Walked in the door at @ 1:30am. Thanks again to Gimpy for the bolt for my Cargo cover bow. Great meeting everyone. Gotta do some wheelin and dealin...
15 hours, 1524 total miles. got home at @1:30 in the morning. Had to stop to clear out some mud from one of my front wheels but other than that smooth sailing.
Had an awsome time, great meeting everyone. Here's a few pictures. Not to many action shots, to busy driving. A nice close up of George stuck in a mud trap just moments before he burried his truck in the silt bed. Alot of fun, but man what a long drive home...
I'm on my way to Haspin, Hopefully I should get there sometime around midnight. If anybody sees a lifted M1008 with the cargo cover on 36's on the side of the road, It's me. Hopefully that wont be an issue. This is my first trip into the mid-west, should be fun. Not looking forward to the...
I'm on my way, should get there sometime around midnight. If anybody sees a lifted M1008 with the cargo cover on 36's on the side of the road. It's me. Hopefully that wont be an issue. Wish me luck, GPS don't fail me now.
I hope to be attending with my lifted M1008 and M416 Trailer. Gotta sort out a minor issue with my rear axle should be good to go though. My first MV Rally, Can't wait.
I told you it was good. Just watch out with some of the larger water holes. I haven't had any problems yet, but I have heard horror stories from a few jeep guys that tree hugger types throw cement blocks, couches, barbed wire and crap in there to stop the 4 wheelers. Theres a few good trails...
With my new radiator if I don't block it off it does the same thing. 130 tops on the highway in the colder weather. Most likely it's just to big for itself. You see alot of larger diesel trucks with grille guards for this very reason. I thought the sme thing as you did when I put the...
I wouldn't think it is the power steering pump. When the condition occurs, and I have to stop, I don't ever remember there being a problem or difference with breaking power or performance. I'll check anyway, I'll check the TM and see what I can do with the adjustment of the box.
You can wiggle the shaft slightly when the truck's just sitting on the ground. But when I can get it to pop just turning the wheel back and forth, I looks like the shaft drops down or pops out slightly then comes back up or in.
So in my quest to find out why my steering is binding, I've replaced both tie rods ends as they were quite worn. But as I was checking the ends that go from the pitman arm to the left steering arm I noticed some play in the steering box shaft. Is there supposed to be any play in the shaft...
I appreciate the link. I talked to a guy a while back who has a whole bunch of them and at the time, only wanted $25 a piece for them. But he's in Texas. It would be nice if I could hook up with a truck comming from there. I'll have to see if anyone from Texas is going to Haspin or Rausch Creek.
Depending on how much you really want them on your truck theres a few thing you can do. The ideal (in my opinion) solution is a suspension lift and having the wheels recentered to the proper backspacing. You see quite a few guys doing that in the 4X4 community. Next step down is lift and...
The plot thickens..... I come home from work today and again I see a little wet spot underneath the truck by the fuel filler. I open up the fuel cap get the same pressure release like before but I observe the fuel recirculating from overflow tube back into the filler neck. Am I missing something...
Well, the axle u-joints are not the best looking. Most likely they are the originals. Truck only has 60K on it now. But I've had u-joints on vehicles that looked terrible, but worked like new. I'll check them out when I'm off in a few days and I go through the rest of the steering system. I...
Over the last few weeks I have begun to notice a binding condition showing up in the steering on my M1008. You can start to turn the wheel in either direction and the truck wont turn much, then you'll feel it get tight then free itself almost like there was a notch in the steering. As soon as...
I walked out to my truck about a week ago and noticed a small drip of fuel under the truck. It had been comming from the fuel filler hose where it mates to the tank. I tightened up the clamp, and made the assumption that I just overfilled the tank and ther leak hasn't come back. What I have...
For the price it's not too bad of a gamble, but be warned I have bought several things from summit for my truck M1008 that was advertised to fit but didn't, not even close. They like to throw that 69-91 Fullsize Blazer/K10-K30 pickup around alittle too much. I have a feeling most of the stuff...
