I'm already using heavy airsoft pellets as balancing material. The problem is that even properly balanced, the 36" Goodyears still tend to be out of round and you can't fix that. All myfriends are running 38-44inch radials on their trucks and they ride great. Around town or on the trail the...
the size of the bead doesn't bother me, I just don;t wanna spend 500+ and find out the tires wont work. Then, have to run out and buy new inserts that cost extra. Beadlocks by me are like finding hens teeth. Thats why I jumped on the 8 bolts when I found them. Plus the magnesium run flats...
I've had my 8 bolt beadlocks for a few months now and I've had two sets of the 36's Goodyear bias plys, and as great as they are offroad, I'm getting tired of their on road manners. Even balanced properly they leave a little to be desired. the flat spots isn;t the issue. It's the bounce they...
I've been looking into a hi lift jack for my 1008. Here's the silly question. Where exactly on these trucks are you lifting/Jacking from? The shackels/mounts? the bumper? I only ask because the only guys I know that have them have special winch bumpers with jacking points built into them...
Looks good. Did you sand the paint completely off the wood? Or just enough to stop it from flaking off? I need to redo mine, just looking for some ideas of how other people did theirs.
If I can get the Wednesday off prior and the Monday after, I'll be there with my M1008 and my 416 trailer. Otherwise I'd be drving in saying hello and then driving home. Haspin was worth the 700+ mile trip. And if Georgia is even half of what people were telling me at the rally it will be...
They are not factory M1009 wheels. They are 16.5 inch wheels. You used to be able to get them from GM but I don't think they are available any more. Bottom line is, if you can find the wheels or 16.5" wheels that you like, they will fit no lift just fender trimming. The 36's can be dificult to...
Is there a TM or can anyone direct me to the TM number that deals with the assembly/disassembly of the 8 bolt style beadlock wheels for the HMMWV. I just picked up a set for my M1008 and I would like to download if possible and get my hands on any TM(s) that illustrate how to work on these...
If thoses are the tires I'm thinking of, (38 inch LAV tires) They should fit but the CUCV rim is a little narrow for them. I believe AJMBLAZER has them on his truck but he found a set of late model GM rims that were wider. The factory rim on the M1008 series trucks is 6 3/4" wide to the best...
To be perfectly honest that was the point, I love the other wheels. I've had them on a couple cars I've owned. But too many people thought it was just a cvilian truck I painted or someones old hunting truck.
The lift is a 4 inch with Tuff country HD springs up front and blocks in the rear...
I finally found a complete afordable set of Miltary beadlocks for my truck. Found them on craigslist, decent price too. The tires have a decent amount of tread left on them but they are worn a little uneven. They ride ok, I'm probably gonna take these tires off and put the other set of 36's I...
I didn't realize that the infared lenses were removable. I have seen a few of them around. that is at least another option. I saw a Jeep Cherokee today that had some nice thin off road lights on it Hellas I think. Look like they would fit in real nice without having to remove the bridge plate...
I'm looking t mount some offroad lights on my 1008. I did a search to try to check out a few options and I read alot of good things about the Gamma Goat/Armored vehicle lights being used. I saw them used on a duece and they looked and worked well. I really like the idea of the high beam low...
I was planning on using a title company as I would like to get paperwork for the trailer that matches it's information. I know that it can be registered as a homebuilt as that is the fate of many surplus trailers. But I think that these trailers are worth a little bit more if they are...
For those of you who were fortunate enough to be able to register your Military trailers without having to go the homebuilt route. What numbers are you using for the vin#? The serial number or the registration number? the only reason I ask is that the DMV is giving me a hard time as the...
I made a similar mod to what AJMBLAZER did. took the cold air intake tubbing/ducting from a stock 88 GMC Jimmy with a 350 popped out the plug on the radiator core support and ran the ducting up to the air cleaner. Didn't really notice any difference. But I supposed it didn't hurt. Hopefully...
Did you bend up the pipe yourself? Or did someone do it for you. I was considering a similar setup, but my local muffler shops don't seem too cooperative. The ammo can sounds like a nice alternative. I was looking into HMMWV airboxes and the ARB pre-filter. Nice job though. Looks Good. You may...
Tires are not going to make that much of a difference. I have 36's and it only netted me about 400 rpms. The only benefit I see is that now I can do 55 at what use to be about 50 with the original tires. I can do 60 at what would have been 55 with the stock tires, but with the larger tires...
I don't remember his handle for Steel Soldiers, but his name is George maybe TMAMERICA?. Long story short, 5 ton tractor + Mud up to the bumper + really big lifting strap = twisted bumper. It was quite the site.
