Ok - we're almost done with the engine replacement but have a few questions before we really put her through the paces...
On a 6.2L HMMWV:
1. What is the normal operating temperature for the engine?
2. At what temperature should the fan kick in?
3. What is the best way to test the fan...
Well, its been a while since I updated everyone on my 'sploded engine... After killing the newly restored HMMWV back in December I finally tracked down a good 6.2L HMMWV take out about two or three hours away. I offered the guy $200 and he accepted - when we got down there we offered him...
I don't think $12K is unreasonable for a complete HMMWV. That being said, if the economy keeps tanking then you might find one under $10K soon.
I paid $24K for a slant-back, and dropped another $4K-$5K into it. That being said, I'm pretty happy with the deal.
Thanks Devil - so you would suggest keeping it versus buying a smaller one I take it? I sure don't want to buy a new one if it isn't going to make a big difference!
This is the alternator on my HMMWV currently - my mechanic says it is way to big and leaching the horse power. Can anyone tell me what kind of alternator it is and what it might be worth in a trade?
Thanks!
Well, I've really done it now :-(... I just finished the resto on my 1026 and proceeded to blow up the engine. So now I need a new one - it had the 6.2L in it, I can either go back with the same or with one of the new ones.
Anyone got an engine for sale? If no to the engine, anyone got a 60...
You guys are gonna love this... So I used the truck all weekend with much enjoyment and a lot of stares. No hic-cups, kids crawling all over it at the parade, etc. On Sunday its time to head home (100 miles) about 15 miles from the house I find myself unable to easily steer left or right and...
It's just paint - mistakes happen. The most important thing to me is that the painter is gonna reshoot it with brown and retrace the areas around the tan first so that the "blending" doesn't look like a mix of tan and brown. (That's why it's still taped up and masked.)
I just figured I'd post...
What happens when you aren't there to open the paint with your MV painter? Let's just say that not everyone has actually seen military camo before and doesn't recognize the difference between CARC Tan and CARC Brown. Enjoy!
Oh good lord... I just meant that we don't see this sort of cool stuff in the general public anymore. This was the sort of stuff that was played before the "feature presentation" back in the day, and not because the military bought ad space. Now those of us that are pro-America are labeled...
