What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Unlikely to fail - all the coolant hoses are reinforced silicone. Wouldn't concern me - biggest issue I have experienced is maybe some shrinkage or the clamps losing their tension. Have to re-rig the adjustable clamps sometimes due to that. When you mention other hoses you have had made - I...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

I agree with Ron except I like the uniqueness of the Niehoff (Isn't that part of why we own these trucks?), and I've only really seen issues with older design abused 100A alternators that were put into trucks with a battery bank they had no business trying to charge and if you know anything...

    Niehoff N3030 Regulator/ M1078/ doesn't have flashing light capacity

The brushless may be more quiet in some respects - I'm no expert and can only relate what I gleaned from talking to the engineers at Niehoff during my troubleshooting. They are a lot slower to respond in terms of voltage regulation (thus the capacitors in the LBCD in case of a disconnect event)...

HEUI Troubleshooting - Injection Pressure Desired and Actual Mismatch

Just the steel cooler mounting face. Yeah that looks warped all to hell like Chris's was. I bet basically all of them are like that. Can't hurt to inspect the filter head but taking the warp out of the steel side should be enough for the gasket to handle the rest of the imperfections.

    LMTV Allison Stall Test issues

Typical military. Over-built. Often in surprising ways. JIC ORB with viton o-rings - that's straight up hydraulic system shenanigans capable of thousands of PSI being used for a transmission cooler - if this was a school bus that would be hose over a barbed fitting with a chinese clamp.

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Yeah - "rare" probably isn't a strong enough term. Built by O’Gara Hess Eisenhardt Armoring Company for the first generation HIMARS Crew Protection cab in the early to mid '00's. They were all replaced by the first armored cab (ICP - Improved Crew Protection) in the late 2000's and later second...

If I had a Dollar for Every Time....

I want a dollar for every time someone asked me about my Unimog. :cautious:

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Yes and also roof access for my habitat solar array, and the heating and AC systems in the van pods. My truck is an M1079.

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Sure: It also makes the ladder redundant. But that means there's no ladder for someone to exploit to climb my truck without authorization.

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Yes I see that now. That should be doable for guys with the A1R style grill. Looks like a solid design. The rack won't work for me since I have a HIMARS commanders hatch that replaced my turret cover so the rack will prevent my hatch from being operational. Sadly I will have to do something...

If I had a Dollar for Every Time....

I'm pretty sure of one thing - if I were the clerk I would recognize the "goat pasta" regular customers also. Can't be that many of them......

    LMTV Allison Stall Test issues

In general automatic transmission fluid line pressure doesn't get over about 300 psi. If it does you have a problem - the shop pressure gauge used for testing line pressure and clutch pressure only goes to 300 psi. Cooler line pressure tends to be lower than clutch line pressure - but in very...

M-1078 Windshield Wiper Motor and Linkage Replacement and Repair

All the stuff involved in the wiper system is German. Because the cab is a Steyr design. Parts for them are either surplus new or used or in Europe generally. That said - the system is pretty well made and heavy duty. Don't try to run it if the truck is frozen - probably the quickest way to...

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Ah yes I see now - they hid perfectly behind the bar in that earlier pic. Won't work with the A1R style grill without modification.

LMTV (M1079) STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING

AFAIK it was on all the 3126b trucks - at least through @Lostchain 's 2003 and the C7 came along in 2004.5...... The C7's don't have it so it would seem to have been done-away-with around that time frame. The 3126b and C7 use near identical ECM's. I think it was a precaution that turned out to...

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

I'm sure it's a very serviceable "rack" - I'm worried about the brush guard portion and how it mounts. I would propose an OPTION - design a new grill that incorporates the guard mounts into the cab pivot brackets. You could just bolt it to your existing design in place of that bottom hoop...

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

It looks like an optical illusion in that pic..... The pic posted earlier seems to show just a single mount to the flimsy grill attachment point that is front and center. No visible attachment to the cab pivot brackets. That's where I recently moved my ground to. To attach to these would...

M-1078 Windshield Wiper Motor and Linkage Replacement and Repair

Yeah pull out the PDP. Fortunately the passenger side should be accessible there. And the linkage to the motor is easily accessed from there if you need to time the motor to the linkage - it's a splined taper. But first make sure your passenger wiper issue isn't just a loose or stripped wiper...

LMTV (M1079) STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING

Yep. That little guy is discontinued and apparently unnecessary. But our tax dollars bought one for every truck because reasons...... 2000 of them per truck if you count $'s as reasons. Been meaning to open one up and see what cost so damn much money.

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

Hhhhmmm I only see one spot right in the center of the grill which (on my A1R) is a really wimpy little sheet metal bracket to bolt the grill to. To anchor at the tilt brackets would be excellent but you have to cut holes in the grill for that.
