Now that the weather is getting nicer I would like to start cleaning up a few pieces on my truck and also start repainting it. Has anyone here used the camo paint from colemans? I know about rapco and the few other places that sell the CARC and CARC replacements in cans, but colemans is easier...
RE: Re: RE: Voltmeter failure
That looks more like a duece gauge than a CUCV. It would work as I've had one in mine but there is no provision for a light bulb. the housing is clear and gets light from some other source. But worked fine until I realized there was nothing wrong with the one...
take the trim panel off the instrument cluster, you should be able to get at the brace the holds the gauge in. It will be tight but you should be able to do it. Otherwise you have to remove the dashpad and everything to get it out.
Nice, were did you get the winch? I want to do the same thing, but was looking at the commercially avaialable mile marker 10.5K winch. Would much rather have the military one if I could.
You might want to also try taking the volt meter out and cleaning the contacts and the contacts on the porcelan resistor on the volmeter itself. Mine stopped working and it turned out the contacts on the resistor were just dirty.
This showed up at work the other day. Obviously I had to block out some of the info on the truck for legal purposes but I imagine most of you can figure out were it's from. Anyway its cool to see them still in use. There's a bunch more being used by them but I never have my camera with me...
RE: 33
I had 33x12.50 on 16.5x10.50 rims. looked cool but as you found out they rubbed. When the lift goes in I may put them back on because it looked nice with the big wheels and tires. But for now I'm happy with my 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on the stock rims.
best advise, just be careful. The last time I had some real fun off roading, my gear lube turned into a soft serve ice cream looking mess. Needless to say I now have new wheel bearings races, seals etc... and a intimate knowledge of all the nooks and crannies of the CUCV differentials. But it...
I got that one at a federated auto parts store, I use it for my rear axle. It's made by Leslie a fairly well know specialty tool company, red and white package. I have seen their tools sold at most chain auto parts stores and smaller mom and pop parts places all over. They're either in the...
Here's mine, both are designed to fit multiple applications but worked quite well for me on my M1008. I don't know if they work on the M1009 too, but from what I remeber on the packaging they should.
We don't have any Napa's that I'm aware of by me and no one stocks WIX either. I would and have run the AC Delcos but by the chain stores logic I am the only person running a 6.2L in suffolk county so they wont order just one filter and are hard to come by. I'd get them from the regular parts...
ditto on the rotella 15w-40 and a fram PH5 oil filter and fram air filter. I just took my belts to the parts store and they matched the numbers. I chose gator backs belts just to try them, seem ok after 10k miles
Yeah, I briefly spoke to him once, he was on here when a few of us were discussing winch installations. His truck has a really nice under the bumper setup. I asked him what difference in drivability the NV4500 made, but he never responded. Nor did the magazine or website post any results in...
well, that was the one I was looking at, My friends father had one in a 84 C20 with the 6.2L he towed horse trailers and the like with it for well over 400K the only reasons they got rid of it, was because it rotted out on them and the suspension was shot therefore not worth rebuilding. I...
well, if you find anything good out let me/us know. I'm looking to do the exact same thing. But was put off by the $5200 price tag of the kit 4 Wheeler used. I hear tales of people doing it for far less. But those are always in areas of the country where manual transmission trucks are no...
RE: Re: RE: Re: Civilian Nomenclature and tow bar question
I'll have to see if I can get the time off, but I'd deffinaltey be interested in doing that.
