Any suggestions on lift kit and tires?

The larger (overall) diameter tire effectivley reduces the gear ratio of the rear end without changing the gears. Essentially what happens is the the larger tire will cover a greater distance for one roation than a smaller tire. So lets say a for example (not exact numbers) a 31 inch tire will...

Any suggestions on lift kit and tires?

I'm doing a 4-6 on my M1008, most of my stuff will be comming from ORD. If you want cheap you could probably find a front spring/rear block kit. If you want good, than front spring/rear shackle flip. But it will cost you a few.

New Weather Stripping and Window Track Felt!

I know most shops that I have talked to or delt with advise to leave the vent windows alone provided there is no leak issues. Many times the new seals wont fit properly and it can be areal hassle to change them. If I remember correctly the M1008 that Petersons Off road/ 4 Wheeler was building...

Girl's out of the paint shed

Someday if I ever stop driving in the woods, I'd like to have paint as nice as that. But it's too much fun right now.

    M1008 as a DD?

I drive mine all the time. 80 miles round trip. I usually stay at 50mph sometimes 55. I get 15-17 mpg. everything on my truck is stock with the exception of 285/75r/16 Nitto Terra grappler tires. Even with its wiped out quarter panel and faded paint and no radio I still enjoy driving this...

    squeak from left rear wheel

It could be a out of balance tire, it could also be a bad tire. I've had new as well as old tires shift a belt and give a heck of a vibration. How bad is the vibration? Give alll your tires a good look over. If you can spin them while they are still on the truck you will be able to see if a...

water proofing your CUCV. snorkel project started

I was considering putting stacks in the bed to solve that, but even duece stacks might look a little dumb on a CUCV pickup. I guess to each their own. I've seen guys run their exhausts right up along the tailgate. Simple, ugly, but effective none the less.

    Advantages of 24v

RE: Re: RE: Advantages of 24v If you plan on installing a winch later, 24 volt winches are far superior to their 12v brothers, more power, less amp draw, longer work cycle. I'm keeping my 24 volt. Starters are easy enough to get as well as glow plugs and thats it for the 24 volts. every thing...

water proofing your CUCV. snorkel project started

there are pictures of it there. view the slideshow it's about 26 pictures in total. and you'll see a picture of a sheetmetal? adapter hooked up to some rubber/silicone tubbing. Not the best picture but you get the idea. I was looking it at it yesterday, very slick setup. Looks like a duece...

    squeak from left rear wheel

In my expierence those noises tend to be either a failing/dry u-joint or a hanging or worn out brake shoe. Sometimes excessive brake dust can do the same. I would start there.

    issue shifting to 4x4 Low

My M1008 is my first 4X4 too. Mine does the same thing. Sometimes nice and quiet, someimes a little grind. As long as it's not making any noise in 4 high your good. All of my friends trucks seem to do the same thing and they cover the full gammet of the big three, Jeep and Toyota. The...

water proofing your CUCV. snorkel project started

RE: snorkle I'm also planning to do a similar snorkel setup as well. I pulled a few fenders off a civi blazer that I junked so I can hack away guilt free. However I was thinking of either using the ARB Safari snorkel top as ithas a dirt/water trap built into it or possibly use duece style...

    2wd dodge M880's?

RE: 2wd dodge M880 I didn't think they were anything special, was just curious. It's a shame to think they are just rotting on a paintball field now, but in all fairness with the exception of the ambulance they were pretty sad to start off with. They bought lots of cool stuff for their WWII/...

    2wd dodge M880's?

A few years back a former employer of mine bought several former dodge military trucks of the same vintage as the M880's The only difference being that they all were 2wd instead of 4wd. One was actually a ambulance too. I was just curious to know what they were and how common they were/are as...

    GMA Covers

whats the website, at some point I'll be looking for one too. Never mind I found it. Looks reasonable. Nice looking covers. Are the $1200 prices for a top with all the hardware, bows and mounting kit?

    Interior color of Suburban

Thats funny, every CUCV I ever saw from Alfa always had the burgandy interior. That being said I don't look them up all the time. I would agree that black looks much better. Being as you truck is a "never was" you have some fudge room. So I vote for black. If I ever re-upolster mine I'll...

    Camo paint options

RE: Do what makes you happy Thats exactly why I dont have my kidney bean mag wheels on my truck anymore. They made it look like a hunting truck. I deffinately want a military correct camo pattern. I've seen the new pattern schematics online but it looked wrong. I'll have to try and download...

    Camo paint options

I want to do the 3 color woodland camo. Thats whats on my truck now. The 2 color Green/black is too boring for me nice, but boring. I want to follow my original pattern but i'm not sure if it's "correct" and i've notice that alot of trucks incorparate the camo pattern onto the grill guard...
