RE: SoCal??
why is it that almost every truck I see comming out of Cali always has all or most of the canvas top with the truck meanwhile they seem to be almost non-exsistant here on the east coast. some guys have all the luck...
RE: Re: Civilian Nomenclature and tow bar question
when, and where exactly is Aberdeen? I keep hearing about it, but know nothing about it.
so if a K30 is a 4wd 1 ton
than does that make a c30 a 2wd 1 ton?
So.... is it a K30? I've heard that said before, but wasn't sure if it was true. Just wanted to make sure as this was the first and only issue that I've had.
Just for verification what is the civilian name for the M1008. Is it a Chevy K30 pickup? Thats usually what I order parts for, but just recently I tried ordering a dual steering stabilizer for my truck, for a 86 K30 pickup and it didn't work, shock stroke was too short. turns out t was...
RE: Re: RE: Pics of my rig new here
I got one for the back at pep boys, the other for the front wheel bearings at a local auto parts store because peps was out of them and I needed it. I think one cost $18, the other $22. good investment for sure
If your looking for aftermarket rims I would suggest that you go with a 8 inch wide rim max. Unless you plan on runing some real wide tires. I have some old kidney bean style mags rims I got off craigs list for my truck and they are 10.5 inches wide with 32x12.5 tires. They're ok, look nice...
RE: 1984 CUCV M1008 Tires
If I'm not mistaken the rims on a M1008 are 16x8's? so the possibilities are almost endless. what will limmit you is the body. I hear most guys don't go bigger than 32's or 33'sx10.5/12.5's because of the 3.08 gearing. If you hav a M1009 than your a little limited...
if you look on BF Goodrich's site they have a chart with all the specs on idividual tires. and if you compare the E rated all terrains to the D rated all terrains in that size the E's have a greater overall tire height. Only about 2 or 3 tenths of a inch but a clear diffence. About as much of...
285 75 16's are probably the biggest your gonna get on stock GM rims. Some tire shops will let you go to like 305, but depending on the tire you run into crowning issues. with the 285's you can get BF Goodrich all terains in a E rated version so it works for towing and off road which is what...
Just last night I went to clear some mist off my windshield on the ride home and noticed that the wipers wont return to their resting position anymore. they just stop whereever they are when you turn of the switch. I plan on doing the checks suggested for the wiper fluid pump not shuttting off...
Take a look at the pinion on the rear axle too. I also had a noticeable but less severe vibration show up on my truck. I had noticed a humming sound for a few days before, did some checking and found some dry and worn out u-joints. I installed a new set and everything was great until I tried...
cool, I thought somone said to get one for the plug adapter for the older trucks. I too had a 86 adpater and ie... totaly wrong. I'll check those links thanks again.
No one seems to make an adapter from the military plug to a civi plug. And I've been through the training manuals several times and have had no luck with indentifying the wiring for the trailer plug so I can make an adapter from a old military trailer harness. Plus I've heard some of you got...
I get between 16-18 on highway and 10-14 around town. I would imagine that the 1028 would get only a fraction or so less due to the extra weight and tires. I religiously only drive 50 to 55 with my truck on the highway. It's debateable if you can go faster. Some say yes, others no. With my...
If you can't get another fuel filter base, you can eliminate the pressure switch and just tap it and plug it with a screw. Also if you want to go one step further and you plan on keeping th truck for a while you can do what I did and eliminate the water drain and air bleed screws and replace...
