goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

I'm not to big on the LEDs anyway . I just don't see the need in them. I can stand in front of my stock head lights and get a sunburn :). I like your work but, to me it is a case of over kill. I will keep my truck a bit closer to it's original condition. I like the hardcore no frills look . Far...

Tire Balancing Beads in Beadlock MRAP Wheel and Tire Combo

I don't know for sure but I have 1400x20's and was told to use the air soft beads it would have to be broken down. There is a product called equal that can be blown into the stem . With the size tires your talking about they could run you over forty dollars a tire to balance . This is what I was...

    Considering first CUCV purchase

Hi Randy I am in Florence, SC welcome to the site. I am glad you decided to post the question before you bought it . I would keep your eyes open for a GL sale in Goose Creek or Ft Jackson . You should be able to find one that hasn't been butchered for that kind of money . Good luck...........

    Truck won't move...

If you have a warranty then call him NOW . The longer you wait the less chance you have of resolving the issue. If you didn't then live and learn. I hope you are able to figure it out either way .......

Not sure how shipper loaded my truck

Well George they say any landing you walk away from is a good one. So now you can apply the same logic to the delivery of 5 tons just in the driving sense..............Nice truck bye the way I like the 10 tire deal ......

Oh Dear Lord! I just bought a 5 ton from Ft Rucker in AL. Now what?

I am glad you made it home safe and sound . Even with some close calls you were lucky as I am sure you know now. But all being said and done you bought a truck and created a life long memory . Now it may take you a good week to get that well earned grin off your face ...... :)

Bought an 818 tractor tonight.....what are my options for a short flatbed on the rear

Sounds like you have it under control . From what I have read it is easier to cut the front off and weld it back on . I did like the look to and had researched doing one myself but caved and bought a 923A1 instead . Good luck to you ........

    Bought another deuce

Very nice truck Hope you have fun with it. I like the look of the tires but the number of threads posted on here about the loss of power will always keep me close to stock on my 923A1. But they are big enough for me :)

Really miss my Deuce, but can't drive a standard any longer - Automatic Conversion?

Do what you need to do to be happy. Have you thought about a 5 ton ? They really are nice to drive. Good luck to you .........

    M931 driveablity

The truth is as stated by the others yes you can drive it but, it isn't made for comfort. You can drive it 55 if the tires are in good shape and in balance but, you have about a foot on each side of the road to play with. Not being familiar with the truck and it's quirks you need to take it slow...

    Painting the M813

Well it seems like you have a lot of work ahead of you . You may want to use a rust converter on it just to be sure you don't spend all your time and money only to have it flake off again. . Oh and about the fuel mileage increase :) If you wax it I'm sure you should get another 2 or 3 MPG out of...

Oh Dear Lord! I just bought a 5 ton from Ft Rucker in AL. Now what?

Good luck to you and Gods speed to your safe return home . The truck looks great by the way. You know with the pic of you standing in front of it made me smile at how big they really are compared to our cars and trucks.

    carc paint

Oh no demonhunter I didn't mean to cloud the issue of the choice of a bed liner. My comment was directed at the sanding of the paint back down to the metal to apply either paint or a bed liner . As you know it isn't required to bring the surface back to the metal to apply most of them. My...

Need help deciding on an M-? truck

No military truck is going to make a good recovery truck if you cut it up. There are some people that will tell you different ,the reason these trucks are able to go where few can is because of the 3 axle 6 or ten tires that pull them . These trucks are big loud and ugly as a junk yard dog but...

    An American Deuce in Canada

The King Machine is so very cool looking. I love the look of the Deuce with over sized tires on it . This is a picture of my 923A1 5ton with 1400x20 on it . Thanks for the pictures .
