There was no mention of me needing to do anything regarding the airbrakes. I'm guessing they don't require it, since it is a specialty vehicle and my C license will be non-commercial. Worst case I will use the truck from work.. It does not have air brakes.
You are correct about the air brakes...
Not yet. I just passed the written test for a C license the other day (I've been pretty busy ever since I bought it in mid-July, so this was the first chance I had to do it.) Now I need to get the truck up to the DMV at some point to do the driving portion of the test. I still need to fix my...
Agreed.. Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. In my case it's second nature to carry an extinguisher, first aid kit, and emergency triangles, as I am required to keep those items in my work truck at all times (not a law here, but it is our company policy.)
If you are going to drive it back home, you might also want to bring a grease gun and some tubes of grease.. Who knows when the last time all of the fittings on the truck were greased (and if they were, it doesn't mean they did all of them.)
Ha. You pretty much described my situation.. I live 2 miles from work, and I work a trade job at a fairly large company, so parking is not an issue. We will be moving to a larger location later this month, but even so it's only 10 miles away. And in my case, my M931A2 will actually be more...
So after reading a few of your guys ideas, I'm thinking I would prefer to mount a "T" somewhere in the trucks air system, and pipe that to a 7 gallon tank that I have. Seems like having a tank with a quick disconnect would be easier to use than the gladhand, plus I would have extra air volume...
For what it's worth, I have mine insured through Progressive Commercial. FULL coverage on the truck and liability. $812/year. Didn't have to do anything crazy, and they know EXACTLY what it is (never mislead an insurance company.) I was able to do everything over the phone, with the exception of...
I should also point out that when I did my search on eBay, I specifically typed in M923A2. If you just look under "Military vehicles" you will see all of the available M939 variants (and there are plenty of trucks to choose from.) There's one seller on there with 25 trucks for sale.. You pick...
For what it's worth, there are currently 12 listed on eBay (some modified, but most are stock.) Obviously you will pay a higher price for those, but at least you don't have to deal with title issues.
Yup. I went right for the 1". I ended up getting a used Central Pneumatic long shank 1" gun for $175. New they are $600, so I thought that was a pretty good deal. There's another one on eBay for around $70 right now, but it's pretty beat up.
