M116A3 - First Overland Trailer Build!

the m1101/2 beds have one trillion rivits ( unibody ~not sure if that is the correct term ) holding them on that were surplus from WWII battleships.... so very unlikely to find a bed from that series but m101 beds do occasionally crop up as they were more simply bolted on.

    Autozone Half-shaft fail

Back in the day in another lifetime when I was a store manager. They had customer satisfaction to take care of additional needs. I would ask for cans of brake cleaner and degreaser to Clean the mess. Did the pads get grease on them also?

Don't know part numbers as I pulled mine off the scrapers coming out of Hattiesburg. CSM Davis might have one on a parts truck but it rather simple critter you could probably weld/manufacture. I can measure mine if you need measurements?

    Robo impact tool

I like the robo impact 1/2. Recently purchased a 67 m107 water buffalo that had plenty of corroded fastners and pretty confidant the tires and rims where very very old... Lugs would not budge. Let PB blaster soak in a few days and started with the robo. Nothing at first but I kept moving in a...

I am not familiar with Md and Va but others here on the ss, others have stated that PA and NY dot does like to hassle their own state residents with Me Plates but at the end of the day it is just a $ they want. Shame that State police do not have better things to worry about....

M116A3 - VA Title & Registration, Insurance question

If registered in Maine. VA should accept the registration and transfer. Probably will need to pay sales tax again. If you have a valid unexpired maine plate, what is the problem? Intermodal and nationwide trucking fleets use maine nationwide . I am in La and never had an issue here or any state...

Starter bolt backed out and fried the starter

Do you have the support bracket with a hook? There is a shunt in between the battery box and starter. Also blocks in the battery compartment. Check for voltage at all connections. Might have let out the magic smoke from the PCB and or alternator. Again all wiring needs to be checked as you...

    M200A1/M353 31 Trailers

Neither of those are the ideal answer. These use air over hydraulic so you will need air brakes .Most states require brakes on anything 3000lbs and over plus they are considerably wider trailers than your tow vehicle. Converting over to electric would be a $1000-$1500+ project. Probably better...
