Does it say "Lucas" anywhere on that sensor, by any chance?

    CUCV Steering wheel

Curiosity made me go look. Sure enough, two of two CUCVs does not have that pictured 'wheel, but the '82 Suburban does. Now I'll have to dig up photos of the two M1009s I've sold and find out what they had.

One more thing, alpine44. While I mean what I have been writing, the way it comes out is courtesy of my **** back. I'm sick and tired of hurting, and I'm afraid it's really starting to show.

Well, we have no idea how those tires were stored, or at least I don't. While the copy mentioned them being stored indoors now, twice, the tires were in the sun when photographed. Which, in all fairness, could've been right after they were delivered. Yes, those 11R24.5 Toyos lasted a long time...

Six FLU wheels for $1,000 isn't expensive. Too bad they come with crummy old 12.5 Michelins. But, it does say that they've held air for a week.

You bring up some good points there, but what I don't get is why people pay more for used military tires than what new civilian counterparts costs. That 17.5, 22.5, or 24.5 tires aren't popular for vehicles that go off the beaten path I do understand. With the bead profile they have, they don't...

Oh, I didn't know that this was a leased vehicle. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

Interesting. Especially since I've wondered why military tires are so expensive compared to civilian ones. For example, the 11R24s I bought were $306 a piece. Weight wise they are comparable with 12R20s, so they should take about the same amount of oil to produce. Meanwhile, people are...

Now that you mention it, no there isn't. Yet another situation where much lower gears would've been helpful.

That would make perfect sense if it does. After all, to the Govt. it can be more than just an inconvenience to have tires fail. Well, it can for us, too, and many lives have been lost due to old tires on civilian vehicles. I wish alpine44 was correct, and that tire age didn't much matter. It...

    FLU tires

Sing your praise for the Michelin 12.5R20 XL here! I will not join in on doing that, but will admit that this tire has a nice, rounded crown. Which is a good thing if you must run a radial. Also, this tire most likely works well in sand. And...no, sorry, I can't think of any other good traits of it.

For some reason, that reminded me of a T-shirt that one of the Mythbusters used to wear. It read something like "I reject reality and create my own."

No precise answers, as you already guessed. First, is it a radial or a bias tire? Was the radial made before or after '85? Is it a passenger, light truck, or commercial tire? Bias tires seem to last practically forever, if built right and especially if kept out of the sun. Generally I have to...

Okay, curiosity got the better of me and I looked into those "new" tires. When asked what the DOT code on these are, or date of manufacture, the seller responded "Around 2008". If that is correct, they should be taken out of service at this point, but definitely not be put into service. Okay...

4l80 6.5 flywheel cover and torque rods.

Not that I've looked into the correct parts, or interchangeability, but it seems to me that it shouldn't matter what engine is in front of the transmission. A 4L80E cover for a 4WD application would likely fit regardless of what engine is in front of the trans, or what transfer case is behind...

    A Cat yellow Detroit?!?

After a nice conversation with Gunzy I now know much more about this vehicle...but not why the engine is yellow. The photo sent to me by Gunzy shows it being yellow when he bought it. Another one of life's mysteries, and one I can live with. Thanks, Gunzy!

No, the SEE will remain tan...or whatever color nature makes it over time. Ironically, I was just looking at Titan's web site, and with 25% off today you could get your very own defense against pesky commuter cars, cows, or whatever you have roaming the streets there.

Wow, what a small world. Yeah, this one came from Utah so it almost has to be the same one.

    A Cat yellow Detroit?!?

I've seen maybe 20, and usually they just look like dirty engines. While I took delivery of a new Suburban with a 6.2, I can't remember what color the engine was. Black, maybe? Ironically, the engine is about the only thing that isn't black on this one - somebody went nuts with the spray gun and...
