    Newbie With a 1984 M923 - So many questions...

Try tapping the back of the starter where the brushes are and the solenoid. I suspect your starter is going bad and when ithe windings hits the bad spot is your problem. Starters have a history of this type of failure. 74m35a2 sells a direct drive unit that is smaller, lighter, and cranks...

Air brake connections- Teflon paste or Teflon tape?

So I spoke to Henkel tech support who is the parent of permatex/loctite. The red is actually what they call burnt orange. It is sold to preauthorized centers in bulk and they apply it. They do not sell the same product in the retail or automotive/hardware markets. Some additional information...

Air brake connections- Teflon paste or Teflon tape?

Interesting but their fittings come with a "red" teflon/dope already pre applied on new items.

Air brake connections- Teflon paste or Teflon tape?

No. Not 271 or ? Thread locker. This thread sealer maybe 569 if memory serves me ..... Different purpose. Those are anti vibration.

Air brake connections- Teflon paste or Teflon tape?

The red stuff is typically oe applied and used by haldex and bendix. Ndt is spot on. Not only used to seal threads as most pipe threads do that on there own but to prevent galling and seizing by lubricating the threads. I just recently overtightened an oil pressure switch and cracked it flush...

    AM General parts website

I browsed and found the same. Some stuff is incredibly reasonable and in line with "normal" pricing. Others are in the giraffe gonads range of stupid expensive. I welcome them and will check them out when I have needs along with the other vendors who have supported us for a long time.

LA 5 ton Insurance not parked in garage

Thanks for the feedback. I got a quote from progressive commercial that knocked my socks off. Basically 4 times what travelers had cost. Seems Louisiana is a high risk problem and the gvwr even for limited use costs big $. I knew It was going to be sky high when the first thing mentioned in the...

    Juan's M998 HMMWV

I found a used set of the unobtainum mud flap close out panels. They keep mud and debris plus water from spraying out. Many new NOS mudflap kits that were surplussed had these panels broken from poor packaging plus take offs like my mud flaps from Southern Metal did not come with them when they...

    Juan's M998 HMMWV

Installed the newer style slightly larger/thicker black steering wheel. Got a great deal from Andyrv6av8v on his take out with the cancelling ring already attached. Also thanks to TimnTrucks for bringing it back for me from the last Ga Rally. SS freight is awesome :) It went super easy. I had...

What is this piece on M101A2 trailer metal bow ?

I think that is the adjustment so they can also be used on a m105 as it is the same bow but spaced differently with the holes? Don't have my m105 at the house to look at?

    Brake Lights

Just seems nuts to me as the civilian world has figured out how to make reliable stop light switches for a while. This crazy contraption is right out of the automotive stone ages... A simple switch screws on to a bracket that contacts the pedal would be all that it takes and no I am not an...
