You may want to find out if they're any good for anything. While 12.5x20 doesn't indicate that they are radials, if they are, ask what the manufacturing date is.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. Been meaning to look it up myself for some time now, but nothing SEE related has made it onto the to-do list recently.

I've had good luck with the HF sockets. I'm not about to subject the chrome Mac ones to an impact, even if they weren't 12-point, as those may cost as much a piece these days as a set of HF sockets. Breaker bars? It's been my experience that you can put 800 ft.-lbs. on a breaker bar and not get...

The Stanley 3/4-inch (that's supposed to come with the HMMH) works great. Not so sure that the front hydraulics are enough to run the 1-inch version - either that or I have a bum one.

Edit: Ended up with a duplicate post.

Yeah, forgot about that one. I wanted to forget about that one. Thanks a lot, alpine44.

So you got a SEE just to horse around from the looks of it. Anyway, the tank filters are quite expensive, but thankfully they appear to be cleanable. At least that's what I did, then plopped them back in. Oh, and do consider using AW-32 instead of 10W motor oil.

It's especially irritating for someone who refuses to use adjustable wrenches. Heck, I don't even use the open end of a wrench if it can be avoided. Which is usually the case - unless someone has used an adjustable wrench on a fastener.

Make that FOUR complete socket sets, Ahab. And that's only counting 3/4 and 1-inch drive, not 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2-inch drive. What bugs me big time is that in the metric world I grew up in, most everything could be accomplished with 10, 13, 14, 17, and 19 mm tools. Then someone on this side of the...

I second the Migginsbros. A 36 mm socket fits fine. But in reality it should probably be a 1-13/16". Oddly enough, I have the 36 mm, but not a 1-13/16. If I were you I'd buy a set, not one socket. It gets expensive to get them one at a time, and when you eventually do buy a set you'll have...

My measurement came to just over 46 mm, but those bolts should be SAE (didn't think to look). If so, a 1-13/16" is just a bit small, and a 1-7/8 a bit big. Of course, with CARC that would be an even 2 inches, maybe more. Either way, I'd start soaking the holes months ahead of time. I can only...

Rear brake lock up question? M1009

Adjustable proportioning valves are fairly affordable. Without one, the identical front and rear brakes on my Jeep would be a handful - which it can be anyway with an 80-inch wheel base.

I hope so, too. I wouldn't want my future parts SEEs to get too damaged.

Indeed, General Hood, I did. And I know someone else (who's initials are G.H.) who also bought more than one. And following Ahab's advice, when going through my list of three friends, I was relieved to note that you don't seem okay. Once my two other friends get out of the asylum I can find out...

And here I thought that you had to be crazy to buy one in the first place. But it does explain why my condition worsened.

    M1010 Starter Button

When I built my Jeep, decades ago, I painted "If it don't run, chrome it" on the rear cross member. That writing has had to be touched up a few times over the years, but there's still nothing shiny on the Jeep. It runs good, though.

Before you tear into this full bore, check for air leaks at the rear, by the tanks. You can supply air to the system through one of the front gladhands (can't remember if it's the inner or outer) and listen for leakage. The 4WD won't engage without sufficient pressure, and if it's only the...

If fighting rat damage and nearly impossible to reach fasteners is a good way to fund retirement I'd hate to think what a bad way is.

I think you'll find that 2,500 hours is a LOT of backhoe work, and that you might be worn out before the engine is. And like you, I have found more positive "mistakes" than negative ones on the GP evaluation lists. Case in point, the parts SEE which supposedly didn't have low range or 4WD. It...

GovPlanet, one short day a week pickup times, Anyone else having this problem???

I can't argue that. The downside is the cost. This morning I found myself being the owner of yet another military vehicle. Without Steel Soldiers I would've been blissfully unaware. But to get back to the GovPlanet issue that this thread is supposed to be about, without Jen's help and...
