Been away from the site a little while; between work and family I haven't had much time to spend with the dumper, or on this site for that matter. Recently we acquired a small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. Over the last six months I have been migrating tools and equipment from a...
sorry if I missed it in the above posts, but is the eye to eye measuement on the stock m1008 rear spring 56"? are they 8 leaf or 9 leaf packs (not counting the big bottom leaf)? Asking because I want to replace the worn out rears on a 79 k35. BT
Many have liked the Goodyear g177 for mostly on road driving. Tread is aggressive, wear life much longer, speeds higher, load rate higher and ther are regroovable (sp). Not sure if they come in 14's though. Of course if you want the look of the XL's, then just buy the Xl's...
RRacing, how much did those dumps go for in Richmond? I you don't mind me asking please. I bought mine in Al and shipped it up, by Murphy's law, DGSC had 20 of them up for auction within the last 2 months. Just curious. BT
There are some prebent complete sets from classic tube and inline tube. Regular and stainless available. Clip kits and hoses ar extra. These are OE like kits wih springs and fit and look like originals. They are however pricey. I just bought a set for my 79 K35 and it was about $200. I...

Howdy Dozer! I honestly can't say exactly, the old gasket looked ok and the pump had no pittting on the gasket face, nor did the end of the block. The only think that seemed out of the ordinary was that the 2 bootom bolts on the retaining ring had a lot of build up on the threads. It seemed...
Went up today to work on the M817 with my to do list. First job was to reinstall the muffler that I repaired in the shop at home, new grade 8 stainless bolts, nuts and washers, went smoothly. Next was to reinstall the heater and brackets, not too bad either. Then on to the leaking water pump/...
agree with Boomer, bad lock cylinder. New one, with a key that can't be bot on ebay is 15-25 bucks at any parts house. pull the steering wheel and change it. 1 hour job. In the interim, bolted to the column, just beneath the dash lip is the switch the rod hooks into, 2 5/16 bolts to remove it.
found the part @ tnj murray, good part, good service shipped quickly. will report back midweek, with pics if I remember the camera this time. If your as HASBEEN, I might be a COULDBE?
thank you guys, i'm going to start with the gasket and see if that does it. Thanks for the steps Scrounger. it's leaking out the bottom of where the pump meets the block so. Really doesn't look to involved if it has to be done twice.

Evening all, let me preface this question by saying I have very little hands on experience with these big diesels. The m817 has developed a coolant leak at the top front of the block . It appears to be coming from the bottom of the water pump. Do these pumps "weep" when they are failing? My...
understood, it has a 350 but it was completely choked at the factory. low HP high torque set up. I think the HP is right around 200, it's a 4 bolt main engine, assumably as a blow out preventitive. I hear what your saying.
also have 4:10 (stock) in my 79 k35. (14bolt rear, d60f) 32"skinny tires, cruises fine at 60-65 even with 4 speed man tranny (low hole). frames rotting so I'm looking for a mashed body m1008, 1025, 1031 etc for a transplant. plans was to keep the 4:10s and swap them in for the 4:56. just...
well I have great news. reinstalled the starter, redid the battery cables w/ McKee's diagram. Gave the primer a few pumps and she roared to life. No better sound in the world to my ears! took it for a test drive and everything shook out pretty well. Few leaks here and there, soft brake...
Update: Starter is back together, tested resistance on coils and appears to be good. thank goodness, hear you on the prestolites . My father, the electrical engineer, is visiting, big help. heading up at to re-install, correct battery wiring, thank you so much for the diagram and get her...
