Not if they are brushless, which most are. The brushless ones have very low idle output.
Up to you, I have one here if you want, but I think you are better with the one you just received. People tend to get hung up on the total output number, rather than output at idle, and then they get mad...
Mixed opinions. The larger alternators do fit and work, but do not charge at idle.
I would say it depends more on your intended usage of the inverter. What is its rated (not peak) watts, and how many watts do you intends to use, and for how long? Also, when would you be using those watts...
Sounds like the rebuild did not refresh the bearings, only the friction surfaces.
Cheapest way will be to find a used one. Though kind of rare, people do part these out. I’ve had great luck posting want ads here.
I have a Bosch P-7100 “P” pump, gear, supports, intake cover, and injector lines, as removed from a 300hp 8.3L Freightliner FL70 if somebody has to have it. Won’t let it go for cheap though. The pump alone gets up to $900 used on eBay.
Hi Will !!! Awesome to hear from you. Hope retirement...
Shouldn’t. Make sure you have a good state of tune before you begin. Clean fuel and air filters, dip tubes and soft fuel lines not sucking air, brakes fully releasing, proper tire pressure, etc....
It depends on how much load you put on the engine. For example, towing or up freeway hills. Once you increase the fuel rate, you will then be able to melt pistons if you are not careful. This means driving by the EGT gauge. If going uphill, you’ll have to watch the EGT and either downshift...
$2500 if you want a selectable air locking 5t rear axle. Has 5.8x ratio and hydro brakes but M939 air backing plates bolt right up to them as well.
I have all 3 positions, and 2 Detroit Locker nuggets for 5t as well.
I do have a set of all three air locking Rockwell 5 ton top loader axles. They have larger axle shafts so are rated at 7 tons. Ratio is 5.8x. Center one has removable power divider. Will sell for decent price. Considering to keep front for self unless a lot of money comes my way. PM if...
Me too. I should have painted it’s bezel ring to match but was lazy. She works good though. Like the full sweep, mechanical, and matched lighting. Thanks bro.
Cummins oil systems are about as simple and reliable as a small block Chevy. Yet the gauges and senders are about as cheap as Chinese tin foil. I switched mine to a matching full sweep mechanical gauge, and then observed readings much more inline with what one would expect.
They are all Chinese by the same company. You can get a genuine Delco, but they will be $300 and up. My genuine Delco failed in less than a year of hobby use. Best thing you can do is keep your batteries less than 5 years old, this greatly reduces the continuous load (heat) on the alternator.
