    Old wrecker troubleshooting

Welcome, Any time someone shows up at the tax office with no title for a vehicle, lots of red flags go up, which is why the LEO inspection is required. Is the vehicle stolen? Illegally imported? In your case, the first time the vehicle was released from the government to civilian ownership...

    Iron butt relocation ride!

Red River Parts & Equipment at New Boston TX is a parts and service resource. Travel during the day, pov in front of you, add temporary conspicuity tape to your rear facing surfaces. I would go Interstate. State highways will double your travel time.

In Love With An Older Woman

That color is (or was) the national German police vehicle color.

In Love With An Older Woman

Cans need rust removal by blasting or dipping, then wet or powder paint. Which way you go is kinda governed by cost and what is available to you.

    I'm stuck! service brakes won't release. M998

I am very impressed. You are becoming quite the diagnostician, of HMMWVs that is, in addition to your day job …

In Love With An Older Woman

I think that is the police version.

    My M915

Problem is likely in the bulkhead connector located at the fender.

How to Prove Date of Manufacture?

Since when has GP been so picky about the SF97 data? An option to date the truck, IF you believe it has the factory engine, is the casting number at the oil pump drive area of the block.

    Possible theft of WC63

Sounds like their business went bankrupt and they walked away from a building lease etc. I suggest you or your agent get over there assp before the truck is scrapped.

Humvee won’t pull large tree but f350 does

The HMMWV should have plenty of azz to spin all 4 tires while pulling against something that won’t move.

    Rear brakes CJ2A

Don’t turn the drums, they need all the thickness they can get. Whoever relined the shoes used too thick friction material.

Thoughts on modifying an original truck

I tend to prefer original, but even I plan to swap in a much newer GEP 6.5 and a 4L80E in mine. The steering box frame reinforcement and shackle flip make sense as well.

    Removing CARC paint from tire

I usually sandblast it off but it’s super slow going, like 10 minutes per side. That carc is tuff stuff.

    Random boxes of parts

First picture is the hood anti-flyup catch that bolts to the front of the inner lip of the inside of the hood. The second is the spring catch that holds the hood shut.

Texas will not register my M35A3

It’s been my experience that the tax office people derive pleasure from sending you away without what you need, I think they get training by watching puppies getting tortured or something sick like that.

Texas will not register my M35A3

Here is the registration fee chart. Your GVW is 15220 plus 2.5 tons (5000 lbs)

Texas will not register my M35A3

Your tax office girls are clueless, go to a different office or ask for the supervisor. No reason you can't get truck registration at $205/yr.

The Mysterious International Harvester-built Dodge/Plymo 318 engine , to blow your mind

Even as we speak, Navistar is casting 6.5 blocks for AM General for HMMWV engines so looks like the IH foundry has always been looking for side hustles. Makes sense, gotta pour steel around the clock, not like you heat up a blast furnace every morning.

Need help identifying a part for my LMTV or if I should even be trying to repair it at this point.

I would disconnect and tape up the burnt cables and try to start on battery power alone. M1083A1s are not something I would part out just because of some burned wires. I think that may have happened at the gravel pit by someone that tried to slave start the truck that had no clue what he was...
