    MPG loaded, m915 vs M916 vs M920 ?

Thanks for the empirical data Wes! I have driven my M920 a bit, but no long hauls with anything heavy. I think the most I have grossed so far is in the 80k range (lowboy with medium excavators, dozers, forklifts, etc.) But I haven't had anything consistent yet to measure loaded mileage.

M920 Vin location on the Frame?

Btw, does anyone have a picture of their data plate that shows a manufacture date of their 920 with a VIN number ending in a number larger than 10371? When they rebuilt the truck, they completely removed the original data plate and put a new plate that only says it was remanufactured 5/8, and...

M920 Vin location on the Frame?

In about the couple inches I didn't take the paint off? I wasn't too keen to take the paint off that close to the mount and get rust under it.

M920 Vin location on the Frame?

As usual, no help here on this site. I KNOW where I read one post that said it's about the same as M939 trucks (Simp mentioned this.) I went out and sanded off the paint in a large patch of the frame in that area, and no luck. Anyone have a picture of where their VIN was on their 915/916/920?

M920 Vin location on the Frame?

OK, I have two M920 trucks that I cannot find the VIN location on the frame. I obviously see it on the driver side door's data plates, but no where on the frame. One was rebuilt in 1997, the other in 2008.

    Artisan's M916

Yeah, there are the pressure fuel lines that come off the injection pump and go to the back of the rear head. This setup means that fuel goes from the rear of the block all the way forward, and it also means the front cylinders will have slightly less pressure. The duel fuel line basically...

    Insulation behind m923 seats

Another lost cost item I like to use is window flashing from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Get the aluminum backed stuff, something like this. Repair tape - Home Depot I like to make sure the metal is dry and WARM. I like to use a little propane torch to heat the metal, then after applying the rubber...

I saw the fuel lines to the rear head, but are there any to the front of the 1st head?

920/916/915 electrical relay, breakers, etc. upgrade

The stock starter relay. Stock Relay Not bad for price, but would like a heavier duty setup. Something like this might be a better option. 200 amp relay These Relays would probably do just fine for the relay portion. I think I would like a better circuit breaker panel though. I would like...

    Artisan's M916

Wow, that there is a thing of beauty! Also, now is the time to put the duel fuel lines on the motor while they are easy to get to!

920/916/915 electrical relay, breakers, etc. upgrade

My M920 electrical is in need of repair. And when I repair, I like to UPGRADE. My starter relay is a bit funky. My circuit breakers are rusty. And my relays are pretty nasty looking. I also need to replace the ignition switch. I saw a picture of someone else's dash that was open, and it looked...

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

And there are the numbers that matter! My filter is in pretty good working order, but I have to think an upgrade like this only makes perfect sense. I will probably do it when I swap the turbo out.

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

With that bigger filter in there, is there enough room between the filter and the canister to flow that much air now? Looks like it is in there pretty tight. Otherwise, I really like the increase in filtration!

I have #1 on my BCI engine. How much of an improvement would it be to swap it out with #5?

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Good info guys, thanks! I haven't started down this path of research yet. Honestly, it kind of sounds like the HT60 or Ht3b will do fine for my needs, but I hate wasting an upgrade. I don't just have an extra HT3b laying around like some others ;)

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Btw, the double pto pump is rated at 22 gpm each at a high rpm. Not sure we ever get an actual 22 gpm flow rate. Kicking in the second PTO definitely speeds it up, but I doubt there is any pressure increase, so your strength while running a single pump should be fine.

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

I haven't looked, but is the HT60 off a N14 motor a direct fit for the BC400? Mine has a seal starting to leak, and I figured I would upgrade the turbo while I am at it. And they can be CHEAP too. https://www.amazon.com/Brand-HT60-TURBOCHARGER-CUMMINS-DIESEL/dp/B01LRAUVLY#customerReviews

    M818 5 speed Transmision question

Using low gear then 4,5 in high is ok, and you are a few MPH faster in low 5th compared to high 3rd. But you have to shift twice from low to high, then from 5th back to 4th, so the time taken, especially when on a hill, means you are dropping speed too fast. I still do this, but it isn't ideal...
