Sounds like another great time! Unfortunately, two events for me, one being not recovered enough to drive. Have a beverage and sacrifice or blow something up for me!
The FSOV's used on the midrange engines, especially the older one, I forget if it was the Trombetta that was replaces with Synchro Start or the other way around, did have a tendency burn up coils. SOMEWHERE here there resistance values posted for them. When it shuts off, take a resistance...
The rubber seal at the bottom of the stat, the bulb end, seals outside leaks. The thermostat seal, the lip seal down in the housing, prevents leakage form the block loop to the cooling loop. If the seal wasn't there, there would be a slow steady overheat condition because the path of least...
Old stuff ran hardest at higher rpm. That is why the stinger came about on the PT pump. The plug in the gov hsg is removed and a rod welded/brazed to the end of the plug. Defeats the governor and you have almost unlimited RPM. As RPM comes up, so does the fuel pressure. Yes, the torque was a bit...
That is because an engine turning at a lower RPM burns less fuel, back then, they knew that but hadn't figured out how to move the torque curve to 12-1600 rpm, they made the best at 2000 +. Also, back then you couldn't have used the "gear fast, run slow" concept of today because there was no...
Might. And there are plenty on threads on it. With pictures.
@162tcat, I just saw this thread. That would I believe, be a PTR style fuel punp. The ones with the ball in the shaft are PTG. PTR were used early on, and had external aneroid on turbo applications. PTG was later and incorporated the...
You can shift 2-5 in low and do a quick shift to high and I think it was 3rd gear and continue on. I only used 1st low or high if I was in the dirt playing around.
As far as I know, the engine needs no type of special electronic tools, it is a fully mechanical engine. The only electrics on it are starter, alternator and FSOV. As for the ABS and trans, I personally do not know.
Speaking of push tubes. Again, IIRC, the small cam and big cam are different lengths. Don't mix them. Again, IIRC, SC are longer. Funny how you know things and when what you know isn't used, it goes away.....
I lied, I had bow storage at the front, the 3/8 rod the bows rest on....I secured mine in the pocket under the bed, centered between the axle, secured with a chain through the lunette and another chain through the feet and pulled tight with a turnbuckle to the lifting bracket guides. There is a...
I agree with juanprado. I had mine, although it was a deuce, mounted at the front underside of the bed. Exactly as stated, stored as a single piece, easily separated and pulled out 1 leg at a time by a single person. Attaching an assembled medium tow bar by ones self to the tow vehicle can be a...
If I were looking to do a home built camping rig, I would locate some, or one of the horizontal mount tanks that are 50 or so gallons. Out this way, there are a couple of RV salvage places and parts can be had for 1/3rd the cost of new. As for the OP stating not wanting to hole the box, the only...
I'd do propane for your water heater, fridge...use a 2 or 3 way....cooktop/oven and comfort heating. I can go apx 3 weeks on a 10 gallon tank using all of the above daily in cold weather, hot even longer due to no heater and not using the oven as much.
As for the passthrough, it will need to be...
I totally forgot about this! Been busy, the trailer has been moved and is in place. Been some nerve issues and have slowed down a bit until it is sorted out. I will take pics though!
