I've got a 1078 but same transmission no? Mine is smooth when warm through all gears. 1->2 and 2->3 thuds a little when it's cold but I would not say it is jarring, but you notice it for sure. Warms up after a few minutes regardless of outside temp. Always seems to shift at the right times. When...
For whatever it's worth, my LMTV caused me to buy a Miluakee M18 and I can't say enough good things about it. 1100 lb/ft removal, impact. Looks just like a cordless drill and people laugh when you get it out, "that thing?", but it's been my experience that whatever the fastener is condition is...
You use the arrow keys to select the max gear it is willing to shift into, just like a car. Pick one under a gear that delays, like if you have a problem with 5->6, pick 5, run it up against the governor and hold the speed for a little while, and then press the arrow to allow 6. It should shift...
Anecdotally, I've blown 4 LMTV tires. 2 were low speed off-road due to rubbing the side walls on hazards, 1 was highway speed on the road due to not-sure, I think a bad o-ring, and one 1 happened when it was just sitting in the yard due to sidewall failure. I go back later and huh look at that...
I also have a 1078 "A0" and it's on the original engine oil. It shifts perfectly fine. It thuds abruptly in the first couple of gears when it's cold but it's not remarkable when it warms up after a little bit of driving. I'm telling you this because although there's probably merit to an ATF...
We must not be talking about a LMTV, because I drive mine around all the time on the highway using the hand throttle they all have... Poor mans cruise control. My pedal is pretty weak sauce too - it's not any stiffer than a passenger car really - so if yours is, something might be wrong. Maybe...
So like so many people when I bought my LMTV I had door problems. On the passenger side, the tab for the door release rod on the handle was broken, and the rod itself was gone. The lock rod was there, though.
Also my driver door was sticking, a problem that had been getting worse and worse, to...
Hey guys, haven't posted for awhile. Been living in Europe and otherwise traveling around for some time which has kept me away from the olive drab obsession. Some of you may remember that I spent the winter of '15 in the Phoenix area. Well after some time I've decided to move back to the desert...
I just want to be respectful. I do try to post 1 or 3 or 5 images as attachments but for trip photos my galleries are often large - 30, 60, 120 images - and posting through the forum deal is cumbersome to the point of impossible. If attaching worked well I would be happy to do it.
NF was baker...
I've had too many problems posting lots of pictures to the forum before... I understand where you are coming from, though. Link-rot. I'll just not post in the future.
Some friends wanted a lift up to the NF to collect some Christmas trees... Who was I to complain?

I've had two front tire blowouts on my M1078, neither of which were at full highway speed, so take this for whatever anecdotal worth you like. I've also lost tires in other vehicles at interstate speed. The truck drops significantly on that side - it is unmistakable - and pulls hard to that...
