    Head Resurfacing

I'm about to tackle heads gaskets on my deuce, and want to make sure my heads still have enough material left to have them resurfaced. TM says that the amount of material removed from past resurfacing will be stamped "on the front of the head, about 1/2" away from the gasket surface". Not sure...

    Michelin XZL Rotation Pattern

Just got done with live chat with Jose from Michelin Customer Support. Here's what he had to say; "The rear tires are moved forward on the same side of the vehicle, front tires are criss-crossed to the rear axle." So, just end-for-end of what I normally do. Unless anyone believes this to be...

    Michelin XZL Rotation Pattern

Happy Tuesday everyone, I've got XZL 395's on my M35A2 bobber... on my other vehicles I normally rotate front tires directly to the back, and then criss-cross the backs up to the front. Is that how the XZL's should be rotated too? I've done a couple searches on the subject and haven't found...

    Lube foaming in Transmission

Would the 50w synthetic trans lube be a good choice for the Rockwell t-case also? I went ahead and ordered some 50w synthetic trans lube. Trans is, and will be, draining overnight, and will be filled with the new stuff when the "Brown Truck of Happiness" drops it off tomorrow. Would've gone with...

    Lube foaming in Transmission

Need some help from the Deuce Gurus please... The lube in my M275's 5-Speed Spicer is foaming. Not just a little, I'm talking some serious froth here. Subsequently, shifting seems to get tougher while driving as the lube gets churned, and then gets easier again when it sits (overnight) and has...

    Coolant hose replacements

"So, I finally found that I could soften the hose first by put it in hot coolant water. I then installed both of the hoses onto each end of the J pipe, and I used the J pipe to install the other end of the 2” hose onto the manifold. I used the J pipe for leverage and twisted and pushed it on."...

    A very personal question...Dipstick Length?

Thank You. I don't have milkshake going on in the crankcase, and no globs floating in the radiator, so I'm hoping the last owner just didn't get both sumps emptied before dumping in the new oil. But, right now it's about 8 degrees here, so I'll get back after it when things warm up a bit. MN

    A very personal question...Dipstick Length?

The one and only question I asked is what the distance should be from the ferule to the full line. My oil level, as delivered by the last owner, is 3-4" above the full line, obviously out of spec, AND NOT DONE BY ME. I just wanted to make sure my dipstick hadn't been tampered with, so I could...

    A very personal question...Dipstick Length?

Anyone out there that can measure their M35A2 dipstick ferule to FULL line?

    A very personal question...Dipstick Length?

I believe it's 60 seconds from shut-down to accurately gauge oil level, and from what I've read, the oil level should be about 1.25 inches above FULL when the oil has completely drained down (after 6 hours), my oil level is WAY higher than 1.25" above FULL on the dipstick I have.

    A very personal question...Dipstick Length?

How long is your dipstick... I just took delivery of my first MV, a bobbed M35A2. And it looks like it has way too much oil in the pan, 3-4" above the "FULL" line. Something else that puzzles me is that the dipstick has a brazed area below the threads, where the dipstick rod was folded back...

Just drove a Bobbed M35A2 Deuce for the first time...

Agreed, however, I believe the SS forum rules state that "Classifieds are for owners only" (I don't own the vehicle), that "for sale" classifieds require a membership upgrade/fee (I don't have this upgrade), and not to post links to sites such as Ebay and Craigslist for items you don't own...

How long to cool down after Short Trips...

Greatly appreciate the insight. I'm trying to figure out if a Deuce or 5 Ton would see much use in my routine. Would it be safe to operate the M35A3 Deuce, in the same manner as you stated for the M923A2, on short trips?

How long to cool down after Short Trips...

Thanks for the replies... I've also read that extended idling causes "wet-packing"/carbon build-up. Is this an issue when leaving the 900 series idling for so long (30 minutes)?

How long to cool down after Short Trips...

Regarding the M923A2, I've read that some folks claim it takes forever for their truck to warm up at idle. I know the manual says to let it warm up for at least 5 minutes. And, before shutting down, to let it cool for 5 minutes if the temp is above 200F. What's your real-world experience with...

    Bobbed M35A3, Reputable Fabricator/Vendor?

Thank You Sir... Kinda like trying to find a really good gunsmith, I've accepted the fact that there might not be too many folks offering the equipment, service and intuition (and, given Murphy's Law, they're probably going to be out-of-state) MN

    Bobbed M35A3, Reputable Fabricator/Vendor?

Thanks, I saw those. Just wanted to get some input on reputable sellers from authorities on the subject, also both Ebay auction trucks have winches... I'd rather go winchless (I was a little leery of the "slight axle leak" on one of the trucks too.) I should've mentioned in the OP that I'd...
