That is a neat truck. Keep up the good work!!
This reminds me of everything I have been doing to my 1952 M135. It is really rewarding when things are working right.
Have you checked with these guys? I can find several places online that sell Hydramatic parts, but I am not sure what kit we need.

Hopefully we can find a rebuild kit that will work. I have one or two of these transmissions that may need rebuilt too.
I have...
I got some clarification from Oldfart last night.
These pics are of the G749(left) and M54/M800(right) pistons next to each other. The M54 piston internals are a larger diameter but the externals are the same diameter.
Here is what Oldfart told me:
"It is my understanding from Gun Freak that...
Am I understanding right that all we need out of the 5 ton airpak is this??? I pulled this out of an 800 series airpak.
That will allow us to use the 5 ton rebuild kit? Will all the seals we need be in that kit?
The battery cables have been changed out with good ones and military ends put on. The battery hold downs that I was missing are from a parts truck. I am going to wire wheel the battery compartments and spray them with bed liner at some point.
These were added to the air tank drain-cocks after...
These are the only markings on the hood of one of mine that I could find after doing some sanding.
It is very faint but I could see that at one time it read US ARMY 3G3868
The front bumper is 4G3868 1-HQ-41...very faint.
Under the hood has this.
I don't understand why the truck number...
I am looking at my own projects. The first four pictures I posted are one of my trucks. The three after that are a friend of mines. The last three are examples that I have found and was hoping to see others so we can find out what is accurate or not since it doesn't seem like many people know...
An old thread but I am looking for markings and trying to find out what they mean.
Here are some different ones I have seen.
I am currently working on sanding one of my M135's to find hood and bumper numbers.
The bumper as you are looking at it reads:
4G 3868 1-HQ-41
The hood is:
4G...
I used the longer front brake lines since that is the only thing available at the part stores, unless you go and have some custom made.
Here is what it looks like. It is long, but it worked fine for me.
Welcome back! I wondered what ever happened to you and making the transmission rebuild video.
What seals are you needing? I'll get online and help look.
Several of us put together a parts list with modern part numbers to keep our trucks going. If you have any part numbers that we are missing...
I have a question about exhaust temperatures. The other day when we were geting ready to leave to test my truck, my daughter was crawling up into the cab in the passenger side and grabbed ahold of the exhaust pipe that goes up the side of the cab. It was hot enough that it left a blister on her...
I need to get another good distributor cap or two to keep on hand. Does anyone know of a part number for a new manufacture one or is Alpha Heaven the only source for these?
Warm weather is finally here and I got some more work done on the truck. The spark plugs and wires were converted from civilian back to military. Thank you hendersond for the plugs!!!
The plug wires are off of a parts truck. The rubber coating was somewhat brittle and ugly so I took that off...
Here is the link to the parts list that several of us have been working on for the G749 series. We will continue to update it as new part numbers are discovered.
Please let me know of any additional part numbers you might come across and I will add those to the list for everyone to use as...
I found this as a source for our carburetor parts.
https://buy.walkerproducts.com/carburetor/components/holley/holley-2bbl-885-1-carburetor-components.html
I also found that they have a rebuild kit, part #159040....but, for whatever reason can not get it to pull up on their website:shrugs...
