How many wires are on it? Did you jump it out to verify that it's bad? I'm guessing it is a Normally open switch that closes around 120. It shouldn't be hard to substitute.
Concerning the bumper washer, if you take a unit apart that doesn't have the bumper installed, make sure you put one in. Coffey's didn't have one and it wouldn't work until we tore it apart and put one in.

I would increase your idle on the stop just a little bit. I was playing with mine after I first got it and if I turned the idle down too low, it would vibrate exactly like yours. It won't take much at all.
Check out the one I put in mine complete with door switches. I also put in a 3-way switch to turn it on or work with the door switches. Works great.
