I installed a glove box. Three zip screws and a small plastic ammo can from Harbor Freight mounted bottom to the windshield above the steering wheel just to the left of the cut-out for the wiper arm access. FINALLY, can get the paper goodies off the box on the floor.
I also ordered an 8"...
I recently removed my blanks...then converted them to 1/2 doors...put them back on and left my truck as a pickup - but with the option of rear seating.
They come off pretty easy
Replaced the temp gauge (240 degree) and temp sending unit. Temp needle was all over the place. Dancing and jiggling. Turns out it was just a poor connection at the sending unit. But went ahead and swapped it out.
Somebody really should make a jump pack harness that can be hooked to a jump pack in a pinch, activated...and used to start a truck that has some problem in the controller portion (wouldn't do anything of course for bad GPs).
Would be handy to keep on-board or pass around from truck to truck.
Hey Dakota - I enjoy all your Humvee how-to and upgrade videos. I lived in Auburndale and worked in Winter Haven for many years...and went through your area from time to time. I'm considering sound options in my truck right now. Funny thing is, I saw one of your videos (maybe the a/c install)...
So, I talked to my brother last night. He is a real life McGyver. He adds a blinker flasher (heavy duty) to the circuit with the starter solenoid so that it pulses the GPs which highly reduces them overheating.
I will take a pic and post it when the new TSU comes in...but my TSU looked okay - but when I wiggled it the first time the WAIT light came back on and I heard it all click in. Then it went dead. When I probed it this weekend I noticed something wasn't right - that is when I saw the whole top...
Installed a ground kit - and wired up the relay and switch for a water tank in the bed we use for burning fields. Found my no-start - no wait light issue...TSU sensor came apart. But, I rigged it up and got it running - couldn't let a snow storm get passed me without doing some Humvee donuts...
Good news for the time being. My TSU was/is bad. The top just popped off it. I was able to adjust the pins and press it back on and it lit up and started like normal. Still want to get the emergency bypass set up. 12 or 24 volt??? I assumed it was 24.
I really like this idea as an emergency back-up. Mine is dead in the garage right now and I need to at least get power to the GP to start and move it out of the way. Last time I drove it I noticed the light didn't come on - but the engine was up to temp from having driven it just prior to...
Mine left me stuck. No glow light. No start. Can’t get it to move and it is blocking my shop.
Thibking about hot wiring 24 to the plugs so I can at least start and move it till I have time to sort the failure.
I'm currently on page 234 of this massive thread - and hope to make it to this point in the coming weeks...but had to put a shout out. Didn't do anything to it - but man did it EVER come in handy this weekend. Needless to say I had other car trouble and needed to access my car hauling trailer...
Just checked. All glow plugs are from 1.7 to 1.9
i have the yellow striped intake sensor. Pulled the plug. Looked like some corrosion on a few pins. Cleaned and fluid filmed them and snapped back in place. Now I have a wait light that does the normal timing.
It is also 55 degrees in the...
