I just had the short cycle light on a cold engine. Garage is 40 degrees
engine started well though and I was able to use the truck. I left it running the whole time. It is 9 degree Fahrenheit outside.
Ugh. So I’ll be crawling through all this info as well. Should it have started so...
Sounds right. I prepaid on Sunday and it was delivered on Tuesday to the store.
Just make sure your ordered it for the correct place on the truck (front/rear/left/right)
grab an a can of brake cleaner to get the oil off, some masking tape, epoxy chassis paint.
For now I just added a second disconnect. One for the main ground and one for the 12+ connection
Now I know it is 100% dead when I rotate both switches.
Also, I did notice the inner bolt flange plate is slightly thicker than the originall
there was no “made in XXXXX” anywhere on the part or box. So I don’t know if this is Chinese or what.
Just installed it. Fit in perfectly. Measured next to the old one and they were the same length at rest.
The outer is shaped a bit different but fits fine. I left the ABS reluctor wheel in place. You have to add about $10 to the price for some cleaner and quality epoxy paint.
Left rear 16060N. I picked it up last night. It has a reluctor wheel for an ABS sensor but I don’t see where that will cause any issues.
There are different part numbers for each axle where it fits the truck.
My only oher issue is it isnt painted. I need to clean the machine oil off and...
I am hoping you and I are both right! Funny thing is, my right rear axle has the worst looking boots - but no doubt there was/is play in the left one right now.
So...riddle me this? I got it off the wheels and rolled around under it moving and prying and feeling each joint. The only thing I found odd is the left rear cv half shaft making a clunking right at the inner joint. I pulled the axle down and looking inside. Grease was really dry. Could...
We have been enjoying the Humvee today as we had a fairly large snow storm for our area last night and today and it has been a blast to ride around and survey the white stuff.
But...while going less than 15 mile per hour I picked up a rhythmic clunk/thunk that can be felt in the floor. It...
Yes I did. That’s explains it. And the other one has been dead since I got the truck. By the way, it feels like I have 50 more ponies under the hood until it locks in and then you really hear and feel the fan drag. But it cools down super fast and shuts back down for a bit.
I just replaced the powers steering gear and fan solenoid. All seems well. Except a hiss now that comes and goes in the areas above my left foot or brake pedal area.
I had to work a lot of air out from the gear swap
air? Something else?
As far as I know I haven’t hurt anything yet. As I haven’t attempted a start or key on by accident after installing the cut off switch. I have another switch coming so I can kill both when not in use.
Right now the rig is down waiting on a power steering gear. Hopefully I’ll have that by...
So...here is an update. I noticed that when I disconnected using the switch, the system still had voltage! Brake lights would still illuminate as would my 24 volt dome light mod. I hooked up to the rear most battery positive terminal for the 14 volt system. As long as they stays connected...
I confirmed with Dorman they don’t have a kit
I was able to find a rebuilder that had a core in stock and is going to build and send it to me.
Ill post details after that’s done.
I did see where a fre rebuilders said I could send it to them as well.
Also on Gov planet there is a lot of 36...
Just ran a chat session at Autozone - while that part number is on the website, the chatbot there said they do not actually have a service part for that application.
My local Autzone just told me there is no actual record of that Duralast kit in their system and nobody I can speak to confirm if it exists or not. To be fair, the guy at my local Autozone has as much experience with parts and cars as I do rebuilding steering gears.
I sent a contact form on...
