    Steering Gear Box

Not Dorman - Duralast per Autozone is a 9217. When I look up the Gates kit 350440 it fits a huge variety of full size GM trucks/vans. I haven't cross referenced a Gates to an H1 yet. We might have just gotten a mismatch on the kit.

    Steering Gear Box

Here is how it went. I first took the gear and washed it as well as I could assembled. (these photos are out of order). My shop is set up with a Ruko box on an old TV that makes watching videos handy. I put the remote in a zip lock bag to keep the grease off and it works great. I found...

    Steering Gear Box

Trust me. If it can go wrong it will go wrong with me. That’s how I roll. Always the hardest way possible it seems.

    Steering Gear Box

FAIL! Didn't go well for a number of reasons. First, the rebuild kit number came with the wrong size input shaft seal/bearing/dust shield. I was able to read the number off the old seal and found one for $7 at Napa under part numver 27SS2188. The bearing was okay and could have be reused...

    Steering Gear Box

Holy cow. I’m not going to lie here, this is intimidating Got the gear off the truck. That wasn’t so bad. Tomorrow morning I will be watching YouTube and jumping in picked up a better pair of snap ring pliers today and a new pitman tool as mine has grown legs and disappeared

    Steering Gear Box

Just ordered a kit with that part number and watched some videos. I think I can do this. It is worth a shot.

    Steering Gear Box

Finding the same as others - the under $250 ones out there...are not out there anymore. I'm checking with the re-builders now too. I see new ones are out there at $850 or so a pop...but that's not going to work right now.

    H1 and M998 Steering Gear - Same?

I did a search under Steering Gear and didn't find the answer. Sorry if I missed it. Anybody know if they are the same? Mine is leaking from the input area and it appears local autoparts sources have the H1 available through A1 Cardone.

two man - rear door cover mod to short door conversion?

Here is the progress. I'm VERY pleased with how this went down. It cost me a soft door rear hinge/handle kit (used), some saw blades and time. The most difficult part was taking the template off the front door area and moving it to the rear and trimming out the smile face looking opening so...

Installing back up lights on the Humvee

Awesome!!! I ran 12 volt back up and rear door lights. Had the 12 volt power that goes to my trailer relays and signal wire installed already. Only had to unplug the factory 24 volt connectors to my wires and BAM!!!

Installing back up lights on the Humvee

I've got those wires coming out of the boot now. Does that mean I have the switch already installed in the shifter?

two man - rear door cover mod to short door conversion?

Mission 99% accomplished. Started out by grinding the rivets off the inside of the door where the floor brace panel met. I followed by cutting the bolt flange off. I then fitted the door with soft door hinges in place and marked and drilled. I had to trim some of the front area out to...

two man - rear door cover mod to short door conversion?

I'm going to tackle it this weekend - or at least start it. Seems like for now there are plenty of stock panels out there in case I ruin mine in this project. I intend on making the panel act like a soft door in terms of hinges and handles and latch. Looks like I will have to trim out plenty...

Where can I steal oil flow and pressure from on a 6.2 block?

    This sounds very interesting......

two man - rear door cover mod to short door conversion?

I picked up a set of rear door hinges (body and door for soft door), handles, and latch. I need to get a good feel for WHERE to put the hole in the door panel as I don't have a rear set of doors to compare. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to give this a shot. I realize I need to modify...
