I didn't get a chance to chat with the mechanics, as it was a Saturday & they were given the day off...but I gather it was a stock replacement, and still needs some fine-tuning as it seemed to hunt quite a bit between lower gears.
I'm not sure if it came out of RRAD or not; as soon as I saw it listed on GovPlanet I notified the owner of Dielco; he was happy with the overall purchase (including shipping & repairs). He said that their tire/wheel supplier had the 17.5-inch wheels in stock, for only around $85/each.
DIELCO Crane Services in Las Vegas purchased a M1070 HET last year and replaced the transmission; the owner was gracious enough to allow one of our local Chapter members to borrow it for local parades & shows as long as it wasn't being used on a job. It is in amazingly good shape and has low...
As tim292stro pointed out, catalytic converters weren't required on light truck diesels until 2004...I had the same go-around with a smog station operator several years ago in Vegas.
A debt of gratitude goes out to members jarhead1086 & Gunzy for recovering my M796 Bolster Trailer from Hill AFB in the dead of winter; especially when I found out that the landing gear didn't work, and they had to lift the tongue of that heavy sucker to hitch it up to Gunzy's 5-ton! A special...
Would you happen to have a manufacturer & part # for the poly hose? My local hose shop has no idea what I'm talking about when I mention this to them. Thanks!
I installed Tom's Waterloo Specialties power steering kit and LOVE IT! I used a rebuilt steering box from a company in Texas recommended by Tom, the install went well and it really makes the Deuce fun to drive (especially since it's very difficult to steer at slow speeds with the stock...
I had the same problem on my 931A2. Changed all flexible fuel lines, tightened & sealed all fittings, replaced the O-ring on the fuel selector valve, but it still lost prime. Replaced the priming pump on the engine, checked both fuel filters (had just changed them several months before &...
I had the same problem but it was regardless of the weather...turned out the engagement piston on the top rear of the transfer case (follow the air line from the low-range auto engagement switch mentioned at the start of this thread). It was filled with moisture (truck came from a very humid...
Have you thoroughly checked the rear axle third member? If the rear driveshaft was still in place, removing axles won't prevent the gears from turning.
As a process of elimination (barring any unseen issues in transfer case, as porkysplace alluded to), the problem appeared after the locker...
I had the same issue on one of my Deuces, and I used a brass close nipple & coupler to extend the 600W frost plug away from spinning impeller on water pump...works great!
I encounter similar temperatures as you described & my 400W works perfectly.
I also have a Kat's battery wrap that works for very cold temps, wasn't expensive at all on Amazon.
After being bought out, their production shifted to Mexico & have had serious quality control concerns ever since...no reputable battery rep I know will recommend Optimas any more, as they have as many customer-returned/warrantied Optimas in their shops as brand-new ones. You're far better off...
Just passed through Fallon with my M931 4 times in a week, to & from Burning Man. It's a very nice town, friendly folks, lots of services & cheap accommodations. I suggest going east on Hwy 50 to check out Dixie Valley; it's an electronic warfare & targeting range for the Navy but open to the...
Hauled an art car to the Burning Man festival in northern Nevada, just got back...a friend built a mobile dance platform & DJ studio with 30K LEDs and 6 LCD flat-screen TVs, on a dually Chevy chassis. It weighs 12K pounds, but is tall & top-heavy (those are 3"x6" steel rectangular tubes for...
Built mine from scraps and swivels on an old Deuce hub. Uses a 9K winch, has lifted over 2K-pounds so far with NO issues. Just have to watch the slope, gravity tends to take over on anything but level ground.
Oh boy, hope your butt is made of something strong!! Hope it all goes well, best of luck!!
Don't forget your chain to secure the steering wheel of the towed vehicle...
