    Winter weather.

I worked for Ryder Truck Rental years ago. We used to find all kinds of foil wrapped food left on top of the intake manifolds on these trucks!

    Winter weather.

That’s so cool to hear! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎅🏻

    Winter weather.

To add to this parts supply problem, back in the 80’s and even into the 90’s you could expect to get 500,000 miles to 600,000 miles on a transit bus before it needed an in-frame overhaul. Now, with all of the after treatment systems, EGR, diesel particulate filters, diesel exhaust fluid etc...

    Winter weather.

It’s really a racket. I just retired from the local transit company. Cummins, unfortunately, is the only major diesel engine manufacturer who has stepped up to the plate and conformed to the EPA strict standards. Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel no longer produce over the road engines, at least...

    Winter weather.

I like what you said here. Keep it simple. With the S1 in the “run” position the electric lift pump should be running and there should be fuel returning to the tank. If not, then there’s a problem.

That’s a long time to be waiting for a generator. I would bet that you have something in your arsenal to help him out:p

    Winter weather.

That’s the nice thing that I like about the the 802 and 803 units. The electric fuel lift pumps. It appears that all other 800 series engines utilize a mechanical lift pump which requires engine cranking to get the fuel flowing. There is usually a mechanical hand pump lever involved, but the...

    Winter weather.

Definitely, it’s always better to be prepared. I also have a 803 for my back-up power. We don’t see anything like 11 degrees, but it has been in the 20’s for this past week. Are the glow plugs all working do you think? I know that either is out of the question on these units.

    Winter weather.

Just thinking about all of you who may live in the Midwest or the north east coast. Hoping that you all have working generators to take care of you when your power goes out. The weather report looks like you’re in for a difficult Christmas. I’m in the NW part of Washington. We’ve had a little...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

The pin size on these connectors is .062". I've been using the shank end of a .060" drill bit to check the sockets for tightness. If I don't feel the resistance when inserting or removing the drill bit then I'm going to replace that socket. I'm not seeing any problems with the pins, only the...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

Just a thought here. I've been working on an 804A unit which has some high resistance issues in the J5/P5 and J6/P6 AMP connectors. I've ordered some socket pins to repair the 24-pin connector. These problems have been affecting the 24vdc power up to the main control panel, the start circuit and...

    Main power indicator

That was Chainbreaker in post #7 who suggested the baby monitor. Thanks!

    Main power indicator

I ended up getting the “Briidea” unit that Scoobyshep suggested in post #2. I haven’t installed it yet. Still messing around with these (2) MEP-804A units that I picked up. Yes, it will be located above the main panel in the garage which is attached to the house. If I feel that it’s not loud...

MEP 802A M8 Percent Load Gauge Issue

That’s very interesting. With no moving parts, it makes one wonder what could cause an intermittent open? Maybe loosen all 6 of the studs, clean and tighten? Treat the studs with some corrosion prevention like WD-40?

    MEP-804A Under Voltage Fault

I appreciate that! All of the old sayings that we heard when we were younger are so true. "If you can't laugh at yourself, then you're in a world of hurt!" And I've also found that allowing others to get a laugh at my expense isn't all that bad either. I hope you're feeling better Guyfang!

    MEP-804A Under Voltage Fault

So! Some good news for a change. But first, before I divulge the reason that this unit was not getting 10VDC across terminals 1 & 3 after the new A1 was installed (was actually getting 24vdc with S1 in the start position) I must say something here. I was once told by a wise, older...

    MEP-804A Fuel Fill Neck

I got the exact part from eBay on Friday. Installed it and that unit is good to go. I sure wish these fuel fill necks were specked with captured nuts. They're called "riv-nuts" in the trucking industry. They're installed with a rivet-like tool and now there's no more fuss when taking something...

    MEP-804A Under Voltage Fault

I was going to run some continuity tests on the J5/P5 today, but something else came up. I’ll report back when I do.

    MEP-804A Under Voltage Fault

Ok, I know that it's getting late for you. Tomorrow is another day. A fresh cup of coffee in the morning will get me motivated to start doing some more continuity tests. I did ohm the 141A and 140A wires with them disconnected from A1. That's open. I then checked terminal 6 on the K15 and 141A...
