My wife just pronounced me "stinky".
We had a fairly warm day in NoGa so I've been out working on the Deuce.
I had a couple of oil (motor, one ea.) leaks and a couple of fuel leaks that I worked on ... nothing major but stuff I wanted to tidy up.
I have often found you don't need a lot...
+1
As I re-read this thread ... I don't see that anybody said the brakes on the Deuce were DANGEROUS.
BUT ...
I DID read a lot of folks saying that picking up a Deuce from GL ... and just driving it home without checking them brakes COULD BE!!!
And I am NOT safety prude ... but just picking...
Like I said ... its got to be the alternator OR the water pump ... there just ain't nothing else.
Both are gonna get pulled and checked out before I do much more with it.
Thanks for the hand Westech and all the rest of you guys ... I really appreciate you guys "head scratchin' with me!!!
WE...
Y'all just be thankful I didn't.
I got a feelin' that cold, snow and taxes are gonna dog me the rest of my days.
If I had moved to Fla ... they just would have followed me like a good dog or a ugly girl friend.

**** ... all I wanted was a better bed for my Ford pickup truck.
I bought a M 105 trailer ... I told myself I just bought it for the bed ... well that ... and the bows and tarp.
I told myself I could stop at any time ...
But then I caught a wiff of that OD ARMY smell.
And then I found...
I moved to NoGa from New freakin' Jersey 6 years ago ... partially to get away from the taxes ... partially to get away from the repressive diberal government ... but mostly to get away from the cold and snow.
After 54 years of it ... I had enough.
so anyoldways ... its only February, and...
From Dave's quote:
"I get somewhat confused from time to time by folks who might criticize others for getting a little short with someone for the old "wanting something for nothing"."
I kinda thought he was talking more about the treatment that some folks get when they ask a question around...
Well thank you very much!
It looks like a REAL fun time!
That's not really far from where I live ... and it won't be easy to forget the date ... My birthday is 20 Oct.

Its not so much that they are
"hard to drive" ...
They aren't ... at least I don't think so.
The problem is when you pick up ANY old vehicle and drive it home for the first time. Even if you look it over REAL good ... you just cannot catch EVERYTHING.
As I mentioned in my "recovery"...
Also ... I've got a fairly complete small shop in my basement ... I got a feeling that the Deuce is gonna give me LOTs of opportunity to make/repair things that it needs.
This AM ... I took an old screwdriver, a 24 volt bulb and holder, some wire and an alligator clip and built a 24 volt test...
I went rummaging around tin the storage closet ... and found this musty old thread ...
I have a couple of tool suggestions for the Deuce owner.
In the (very) short time that I’ve had my Deuce, I find that they are VERY similar to old Brit Sports Cars … like the MGB.
They both contain...

Yeah ... when I took it all back apart I checked to make sure the mounts were tight ... and there wasn't anything broken.
The belts were tight when I picked the truck up ... I gave them a push to check before I shut the hood.
The more I think on it ... I bet I find something behind that w/p...
