The multi-fuel one is brass, and the bottom tank is soldered on just like normal. The top tank (which is really two tanks and a bunch of baffles) is built at the same time as the core, and all the seams / joints are made with a welding process. The guy at the shop had a name for the type of...
Won't save much money, a replacement multi-fuel is about the same because of the complex upper tank and the way the core is welded (not soldered) into the top tank. Good take outs are more available though but still $400-$500. I just had to have mine repaired (see winch note above), and...
Left side, Triumph's major market for the sports cars was always the US. But it just takes a RHD steering rack, dash and a couple dozen bolts to move the steering, dash bits, and pedals to switch between LHD and RHD. Lots of them have been exported back to England and switched in the last 20...
Triumph used "TR" for all their "big" sports cars, I'm not sure what, if anything it stood for. The series went from TR2 (1949, I think) through the TR8 (1982). The TR3 will do an honest 100 mph, pretty good for a relatively inexpensive British sports car from the era. A fair number of them...
I have no idea about the Gasser hoses... Sorry, I didn't see that in your sig. Hopefully Barrman will chime back in. Mine was originally a Gasser, but came from GL with the multi-fuel.
The car in front of my Deuce is my dads 1959 Triumph TR3.
All except the bottom are just cut lengths of straight bulk hose. A good auto parts store (old fashioned local or NAPA [upper hose is NAPA 24032 I'm pretty sure], or a lot of boat stores) will have it. I ordered mine from McMaster Carr, I'm pretty sure I used various sizes of

Winch bumper meets head/neck/back, been there, done that, got the scars. The 2nd time you do it in a day, it really p$sses you off. I sometimes put a piece of foam pipe insulation (or pool noodle) on the bottom edge.
The other radiator / winch lesson you should be aware of:
The lock-out for...
My plan as well, heading up from downtown. What's your definition of early ? Mine's 08:00 8-)... I would be willing to drag my a** out of bed early enough to meet up along 290 about then.
Sounds like it's one of the rears.
This is probably a stupid question, but did you make sure the tires were dry inside when you mounted them ? My 11.00x20's were full of water, more then 2 gallons in one! They all had good flaps and tubes, and looked as though you could just slap them on, no...
With little cars, the first question with inbalance is hands or rear end ? When the shaking starts, do you feel it through the steering wheel or the seat first, which helps figure out front or rear. There has been a lot of discussion about tire balance recently in this thread-...
Amarillo, TX to Unknown road - Google Maps
Google directions from Amarillo.
West side of Texas 47, just north of W. Villa Maria Rd.
Entrance is at the cross over. You can see the camphouse and some of the trails in the satellite photos.
I want to see how close to the Brazos (that is the...
It's my dad's 1959 TR3B, he's also got 2 TR6s, all very nice. I've got a Spitfire and Herald (both need work). Interestingly enough there is a lot of common hardware and designs between the Triumphs and the Deuce, fine thread bolts, weird brake fittings, total lack of any heat or sound...
It looks like an AN/MJQ-18 power plant, missing the 2nd MEP-003 that is mounted between the wheels facing the rear. If it is, take a big jack to lift the front up, it is going to be way tongue heavy!! (and you can't crank the leg down far enough to hook it up to a regular truck, even with a 12"...
My dad's 1959 TR3B. The restoration is getting older (we did it about 15 years ago), but it won some awards at the Triumph Register national meetings. Glad you like it.
The Expedition has the towing package, and the brakes were fine in the flatlands of the gulf coast, but rigging a way to...
Just a note on towing, but the 2 MEP003's on the M103 (flatbed, but same chassis as the M105) towed just fine from Camp Shelby to Houston behind my Expedition, except for the idiot woman who almost sideswiped the trailer.
There is a "clubhouse" with bathrooms, power, meeting room, and porch. For camping, it's just a well drained, flat, grassy field. As long as your not in a hurry, I have an adapter for the deuce's air system (I won't be there unti mid-morning, and the deuce's air system is not that high...
A little while after I got my truck, there were a couple of M35a2s at GL in San Antonio with 11 nice new 11.00 x 20 Goodyear G177's on them. I knew that was what I wanted for mine, but hadn't bought yet. I bid those trucks up to the value of the tires ("Really dear, I am just buying the tires...
Very nice set of mods. Its neat to see a real plan to meet a specific application.
If you did any fab sketches of the receiver hitch, more details would be great.
If you don't see it in the daily posts, this thread is kind of buried in a weird place. I wonder if is acceptable to send out a group PM to everyone in Texas ? Or at least who has complained they just missed the first one ?
Also, I think the new post to subscribed threads and PM notifications...
