Never used that particular product but I have used others like it. It WILL outlast the truck! One time just as an experiment I used 3M urethane to 'glue' on a set of cab corners , it worked great except for the body filler didn't stick along that seam line. No biggie , I just wanted to see if it...
WOW I haven't seen one of those in 30 years, I'm surprised they're still available. Back in the day that valve would be mounted on the floor between the driver's seat and the door, that way you can just reach down and switch it. If you have bucket seats it might be nice in the center somewhere.
Instead of one tank on each side install a Blazer or suburban tank in the rear and turn in around so the fill is on the left side. Use the fuel door a surrounding metal from the doner truck to finish the outside. As far as connecting them together I'd keep them separate and use a transfer pump...
Notice that rubber mat on the firewall? That is the coveted yet rarely seen firewall sound deadening, very nice thing to have combined with a hood blanket and floor insulation/carpet it can make for a very quiet and comfortable ride.
My old truck (now gone) would start really quick, many people commented on it. If yours is grinding as or after the engine starts, I'd suspect the overrunning clutch on the starter gear drive assembly. It's easy enough to check and replace. JUST MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE WITH ONE FOR A 1984!!! THE...
I don't get it, why change fusible links and plugs when they are still working? I understand swapping out some bulb sockets that are exposed to weather but others not so much.
" It actually cracked the inspection cover on mine as well. Apparently these starters have a lot of torque. I have been told if you don't take care of it, it can crack the block. "
Yes it can, it can and will break the outer 'ear' off the block where the outer starter bolt threads into. and that...
I hate to say it but do you really think he will read it let alone understand it? I'd be looking for a different shop/mechanic. How far are from CUCVUS
Yes and yes if you do have a gear reduction starter. Look on that site and you'll see how to ID what you starter you have. From your pic's I'd replace that flex pate and the starter drive gear.
Dropping the tank is a PIA especially when there is fuel in it, that tank is pretty long and even 5 gallons or so starts sloshing from one end to the other can make it fall off a jack or tip and spill. Removing the bed is a pain too but I lean that way. I don't have a torch set so how I do it...
