yea, i did some calculations after zebedee sent me his reply. didn't get away from the hanger till a few hrs ago. yea, i probably wouldn't be able to lift even the head (900 lbs w/o blades), but a 350 lb blade and a 30 lb cradle, I'm sure it'll handle. as for using the local crane guys. we've...
my donor 936A2 had the set, stowed on the left (driver side) bed, closest to the bed rail. i wasn't sure his was the support poles or a tow bar.
not sure why the poles would be stowed on top of the boom. them things are a bigger to move around by oneself. I'm not getting rid of mine yet. but if...
the higher your rpm is, the more sensitive and faster the hyd will be. opposite for low rpm hyd use, the controls will be slow and sluggish.
i do wish i had an auto throttle, but I'm fine with setting it before i get out of the cab, for now. if i notice it starting to creep, ill figure...
out of all the mods folks have done, aint none of yaw got any insight to share? only reason for even thinking bout adding a jib is. our chilean bird is coming home by ship and the port cranes are expensive by the hr, and if we are down for any short amount of time, the crane will go to another...
will do. I just went to the local hydraulic place, figuring its an or ms, but come to find out, its british pipe thread. Its just a plug like for a hydraulic line, with an oring groove on it.
i had him order 4 for me. Just dont know what to put in the front hubs as a plug.
I would say a very viable option.
i haven't measured pipe size yet, and I'm on a 3.5 work hitch in canada, so measuring right now is out of the question. but what size pipe is the exhaust system? looks like 4". i can't remember where on here, but i remember someone saying the smaller pipe cause...
different meaning better, or different meaning like a ford or chevy straight pipe turbo back compared to a cummins turbo back?
i was looking at mufflers too, and them dang things high dollar, $375ish. then there is shipping on the oversized exhaust garbage can.
cold a civi diesel muffle work...
has anyone attempted to add a jib to their wrecker boom? i need about 25 ft of stick with a lift rating of 2000 lbs, i was thinking, if i add a 10' jib, single part my cable and wind new, longer cable, i could get the length needed. thought?
i do have a question though. WILL and is it viable to change the left handed studs out for right handed? i mean the military did it for a reason, just don't know if it was a logical and sound reason. not much the military did seemed back then when i served, nor now, logical.
i was reading your adventure. but since i have an a2, plugs will work fine and won't extend above the hub flange to prevent the wheel from coming off.
as for getting rid of the ctis, yet possibly still wanting to have something similar, i could build a multiport air line, use the same style...
bearing set or seal set? for seals, if you can find something close to the od of the seal, set the seal in in position, as close to even all the way around (not cocked up on 1 side) and set the "tool" on the seal and start with gentle taps (4-5), remove tool, make sure its not cocked to 1 side...
can anyone tell a good place to get an axle o/h kit from? boyce equip has kits, and for to much, but as sims said in another thread, if not using the ctis, i don't need the seals. so why buy the kit them, its just a waste of $. i didn't do a search to see if there was an alt./civi part number...
i will agree. i like the concept of ctis, but i don't think its worth the hassle. I'm gonna find some plugs and do away with my set up. the more i thought about it, the less i think i ill get use out of the system. the up side to the a2 style axle, is the 2 pc. hub, no more taking hub and drum...
some smarts has to be used when caging brakes. you don't back them all the way off. just enough to where it takes some grunting from the pulling vehicle to get it to move. i had to tow log truck that had his pole trailer racked up and his compressor took a crap. we only had to go bout a 1/2...
you ever get the turn signal issues squared away? iv thought of doing it too, a lil further down the road, i hate chasing spark and dang sure don't want to go through your headache. did you replace with military style led signals or a civi counter part?
its a bit late, but were the caging bolts not in the brake park brake chambers?
the TMs would have explained charging the system, esp. since the truck is a wrecker/tow/recovery truck. it would have explained which glad hand to hook from and which to to hook to in order to charge the disable...
i had the same issue. they had taken the ctis valve cover off. i didn't think much of it, didn't think it would be bad since it didn't weigh much. i was 100% wrong. i couldn't get above 45 mph without it doing the shimmy shake. i aired all tires up to 90 psi, instead of the 100 psi stated on the...
@simp5782
thank you sir for the lab and the attachment. and yep, what my dad used to refer to as a lubrefiner is what you call a bypass. his old truck had a centrifuge filter that then drained and got sent to a, well, I'm assuming, around 1-3 micron filter, or whatever micron there was back 25...
@simp5782
can you message me the info/link to your bypass filter? my oil psi seems normal, but again, the gauge can be faulty, as with my eng temp (dang thing will peg out either direction if i slightly rotate the gauge in the dash). as for an oap (oil analysis program, who do you recommend? i...
