    Weird Alternator Wiring

So basically they just extended the output from the 12volt alt (drivers side) into the cab and then back out. Maybe they had a 12 volt gauge at one time so they could monitor the output from the 12 volt alt which was isolated from the battery. If not needed now, I would remove it and splice the...

    Weird Alternator Wiring

has the truck been converted to 12volt? that is not standard wiring. need to see how the 12volt terminal block is being fed (next to glow plug solenoid). also need to keep that thing insulated. IF it were to short to ground you might have some pretty good fireworks. interested to find out more...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

I will have to source MDO plywood from someone else. I went to HD today and they could not even pull up the scu # They said when this happens they don't offer that item in my area and cannot order it. I will look this weekend at a couple of other places. I did get my camera cables ordered...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

I will have to go to the store and see if they can order it. on the internet, it is not available for delivery and it is not available in any stores within 100 miles. I will go by the pro desk today and see if they can order it. 3/8 would probably be ok and a few extra pounds may be worth it...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

my rack Is already heavier than I wanted it. I was hoping that the birch would hold up ok since it will have a water seal on the top of it and foam backing on the other side so it will be mostly encapsulated. The birch is the lightest plywood I can get. I am using 1/4 inch to save on weight...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

made some more progress on the truck. The roof rack is 99% welded and ready for final paint. I have completed the exhaust and almost completed the tire lift. I have a few more things to do to the tire lift. first is to reinforce the riser pole. I plan to add an outer pipe (one size larger) and...

    Relay circuit bounce, headlights dimming.

trace the ground wires to that relay. I believe the relays are for the black out lights and the service light disconnect. you probably have bad relays that are not latching and there is probably a bad ground somewhere causing it to continue to try and switch. the lights on and off.

Installing 12 volt accessories into 24 volt systems

A 1009 has a frame ground and no shunt. you can connect to the 12 volt battery and not have any of the above issues except the battery imbalance that is normally not a big issue unless you are using a lot of 12 volt power. if you swap you batteries every 4 to 6 months it will help in keeping the...

    37" hummer tire balancing

nice trailer, if it is still out of balance some, it would not hurt to put some balance beads also. if those tires are byas ply, non radial, I have heard of people having real problems getting them balanced. for high speed.

    37" hummer tire balancing

you do have to do an initial balance with the weights first. I had a truck tire shop do mine with stick on weights inside the rim. but it still had slight vibrations which got worse at different speeds. I then added the cetramatics and it rides smooth at all speeds now. Most heavy wheels will...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

I was lucky and found a welding shop that would sell me some mixed gas for my welder. The don't fill, they just trade the bottle out. I had to wait outside while they ran my credit card and then they let me drive around back and trade the cylinder. No one was allowed in the store but they would...

    Connecting rod bearing help

that is not that many miles for the motor but due to age I can understand changing the oil pump and water pump. The timing set is probably ok but not a real expensive item so If you have the cash to throw at it will not hurt. I would not worry about the bearings but if it is not big deal for...

    Weird wiring issues!!

I would get the relay harness for the headlights. This is sold at lmc and some other places. the relays can be powered by an inline fuse to the 12 volt junction block and then the switch leg can be run back to the headlight switch. This will fix the melted fuse problem correctly without...

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

I finished the roof rack attaching arms and now I am working on the last details of the roof rack. I got the visor partly mounted and ran out of welding gas. I will find out tomorrow but I may be delayed for a while if the welding shop is closed for the virus. I have to weld tabs on to the...

Banks to discontinue sidewinder turbo this month.

I have a banks turbo and some of the parts for sale, if banks is now willing to sell the remaining parts needed, (they would only sell the whole kit a few years ago) you may be able to put a kit together pretty cheap

optimizer long block - hummer 24V or cucv 24v

I made some quarantine progress. Instead of using carriage bolts and trying to make square holes, I switched to all thread and welded the all thread to the arms then ground everything smooth. I got the arms built and temp welded. I now have to take them off and do the final welding, grinding and...
