I have thought about the serp system but that is a lot of parts to gather. I only need to double the belt for one alt and can do that with changing 3 pully's.
I also like the idea of having two alts. The truck can run on just one and I can shut everything else down until I get the bad alt...
my AC pulls about 1400 watts running and has a 2500+ spike at start up . The inverter I am looking at has 3000 amp capacity load and can handle a 9000 amp spike. Right now in stock form I can only produce about 2400 watts and that is all at 24 volt. For each amp of 12volt I use I loose one amp...
The lower sections of the air vents between the inner and outer fender is where the water drains from the cowl. (The slotted metal in front of the windshield.)
The roof metal has a very small cavity between the two metals. There is more space around the edges but most of the center has only...
there should not be any air gaps. Gaps mean the gasket or seal is bad or missing.
You can get all the gaskets at several different online places like LMC.
Spray foam is a bad idea because it will absorb moisture and just make it rust faster.
What particular gaps do you have and maybe we can...
thanks for showing that, I thought it could and always to extra caution to be sure and not let it move. I would put a stick through it and wire it in place if it were being un attended for any amount of time. now i dont have to worry about it in the future
as long as you have not disturbed the timing gear when removing the iP . The gear can jump teeth when the ip is removed. there is enough room inside the cover that the gear can move over a couple of teeth and screw up your timing.
If you are certain the gear has not moved, then you can put it...
supposedly you can bend a push rod when torqueing them if you do not have it aligned right when tightening the rocker arms.
I guess you have the water pump removed? if not, you cannot see the dot on the cam pully in order to line it up with the dot on the ip pully.
The crank pully dot lines...
don't run it anymore without the radiator working, you won't know it but you can scald the rings pretty quick without any coolant. I would get it all back together and then start it up and crack one line at a time and make sure the air is out of each line.
if it is a fresh rebuild, it will...
well I had to jump on the year end sale and go ahead and get the HVAC unit. I saved about $500 all together getting the AC unit, Heat strip and a Thermostat. All three parts cost me $860 with tax. It will be a little while on the inverter. The one I want is approx. $1000.00 It is still...
what is he total run time. could just have air in the injector lines that need to be bled as far as the rough running.
Hope it is not a bad IP rebuild, that does happen.
is it possible that you just had it flooded out running the starter a lot. have you let It run for a while to see if it clears up.
you may have pushed a lot of fuel into the exhaust system that is burning off also and creating the smoke and smell.
I was wanting to put the York air compressor on using a double pully like others have done. I would probably rather use the 12volt 100 amp alt and a 200 amp 24 volt alt if I could make that work with the belt config. Most likely a third battery would be required.
I would need the three belt...
I have thought about it some more and I think it would be easier to upgrade the passenger alt to the high output 12 volt alt and then make the drover alt the 24volt alt.
All that would be needed is the HMMWV crank and water pump pullies and to put a double pully on the passenger side alt. Then...
you can handle it. I did mine. there are a couple of tools that help and are pretty cheap. I cannot remember what they are but I have them in the barn.
The best suggestion I can give you is to take a lot of pictures as you take it apart.

I will be looking to get rid of some of my spares.
I have a cucv hood that has dents but is usable.
I have a set of rear drums with backing plates. new pads and new cylinders I rebuilt them just prior to changing to disc brakes.
I have a set of calipers for rear disc (no e-brake) they are...
I was in the same boat as you. I just went ahead and finished the motor and now I don't hear it because the motor starts so fast the starter does not run for more than a second.
you might try the direct drive starter if you want. but for sure double check the bolts and bolt holes and also make...
mine was the same way. I was using the starter to circulate the oil and prime the fuel system prior to the final touches on the engine. I decided to quit worrying about the starter and get the motor running and once the motor turned over, the Bendix returned like normal and I have not had issues...
the cucv has an HD case. not sure how it differs from regular th400's but there is an HD stamped on the case of the cucv TH400 that is not there on civy tranny's
does the motor start?
if it does not start the Bendix will not retract so don't worry about that part if the motor is not starting.
if it is just noisy then let it be noisy until you get the motor running.
I thought mine was bad but it was not, I was just laying next to it instead of being in...
