Test your aux system every time you test the generator. Even if your sucking fuel out of a jerry can. The aux system is quite nice to have working for a 16hr+ outage.
Got some time this weekend to finish the ultimate well nut install. The lower one required some metal removal around the hole so it could fit without taking the tank out. The upper one i made a flat sided washer to go around the tank mount.
I also took this video this morning of my 802...
I would also like to know what you find on the rad hoses. There good to have around.
I never used any of the stinless rad hose kits but judging on my experience with "universal fit" products i wouldnt expect to much from them.
The 800 series uses two float switches. One at the top to turn the aux pump off and one at the bottom to start the aux pump.
If your set is over filling its the top float. You can reach into the filler hole and feel/see them. Wiggle them around a bit while you feel for the aux pump coming on...
If your going to use the generators batterys to heat the oil before you start it i think that will be a loosing battle. Your batterys will be at there weakest when you need to use the heater and 75w is really not alot of heat.
They do make cordless propane tube heaters now. No 120v needed and...
I had a problem starting my 802 at -8* a few days ago. This one never got antigel in the fuel but once it got up to about 5* it ran fine. I also think my batterys were frozen or close to it. It acted like the batterys were half dead. It did puff black smoke so mabe it wasnt a fuel gel...
A block heater or heat mat would work as long as you go out and start the set as soon as the power goes out. I am going to get a block heater for mine by next winter just for the piece of mind.
Thats been leaking for some time if theres white stuff on it. It looks like a square plug? If so just take it out, put pipe dope or teflon tape on it and reinstall. I wouldnt even drain the coolant.
Since we are talking about cold weather and 802/803 sets has anyone ever had a set (802)that wouldnt heat up with no load and only get to about 150* when under a 5kw load? Was about 20*.
I would pull all the pistons, hone all cylinders and put new rings in. Its only going to cost you a few hundred more at the moment. Going to cost alot more if the rod goes through the block. Generators by nature arnt a piece of equipment your right by when running.
Driving a vehicle and...
You only need to replace the fuel filter and fill with anti gel if the system is frozen. Since yours isnt just dump in the tank and run the set up to temp and shut off.
No 911 added to the tank wont help an alreaty froze up system. Il start my vehicle and run its exhaust into the cabinet if i need the set working.
CT mike you may want to get some antigel. The stuff can be hard to get when its really cold like it has been around here. One buddy was asking...
Did you add antigell in your diesel? I forgot this in the spring when i added alge block. My primary set is all ripped appart for a well nut and fuel filter. I went to my secondary set and its all froze. O well winter is actualy when i need it the least.
I am going to get some 911 today.
I...
That does not look to good. Shop vac any loose stuff out and try soaking in oil. I bet the rings are prety **** stuck to the pistons. These engines do come up for sale every now and then
