    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

GREAT NEWS I'm going to start off by saying thanks to those who were supportive and PM'd me with help and questions. I am also surprised by the amount of negativity on here too "how dare you go against the "contract", "I told you so", "Don't make the military vehicle crowd look bad" yada yada...

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

So I got this in the mail the other day. Says they don't title off road vehicles. Which doesn't matter, because what I have has been inspected by an officer and has been deemed a road-worthy vehicle in the state of Georgia (while I must say it does do very well off-road). I'll have to call on...

    Console / Stereo Installation?

Made this a few months back. All the details are in the modifications thread in early December. Added a 12 volt battery balancer. I run a alpine amp that gives 50 watts to each speaker. Easily heard at half volume cruising and full volume will make you deaf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Wildwood Caliper Upgrade for front

The transfer case is in 4 high for pavement use. It has a differential in the t/c that allows the front / rear tires to spin at different speeds in turns or in situations as you describe. In high lock or low lock the yes, locking the front or rear set will lock the opposite end of the truck. But...

    Slow Speeds

Check the slack in the throttle cable. Make sure that at WOT it engages the kickdown switch at the end of the cable on the ip. When accelerating at wot it will wind out first to 28 mph, 2nd to 48 and shift to third. When you floor it from a stop it will shift pretty firm and give you a good...

    Airlift bumper license plate mount

That would work great for driving through toll booths. :)

    Jolt when Shifting from stop

Totally normal. As a part of the 4 wheel independent suspension, every wheel has a cv joint and a little slop comes from this. Same reason when you stop abruptly it will rock a little forward / back. Also the slop between the transmission, through the transfer case, in the driveshafts and the...

    Fixing / filling holes in body . . .

The oem plastic plugs are made by Caplug. For the radio holes by the passenger seat and the rear passenger wheel well I made these. Just 1/8 aluminum sprayed flat black. Kinda ghetto, but it works.

    Batteries - Suggestions

One of my trucks came with the red top Optimas. It started right up at the lot when I picked it up. Another has the OE hawker batteries. They are from 2008 and were dead as can be but still hold a charge for weeks. Pretty respectable for a battery that old, and that sat dead for who knows how...

Video or Photo of you in your Rig in action

Here's my collection of pictures so far. I have some decent video but still need to put it on YouTube. Hopefully I can get a lot more when it snows tomorrow. A whopping 4 inches. But that's pretty decent for Georgia.

    M998 HMMWV Off Road Uses

The CUCV is a great truck, but it isn't a HMMWV. These were made from the ground up as off road vehicles and as such have more ground clearance, bigger tires, locking diffs etc. The CUCV is a 24 volt diesel Blazer/ Silverado with a rear locking diff and a few other upgrades. They certainly have...

    M998 HMMWV Off Road Uses

These things are great for getting groceries, to being one of the most bad ass and capable off road vehicles made. Polaris razors are 12k plus. A jeep with locking riffs, 37 inch tires, lift etc... to even be close to as capable off road will be 10k plus in mods alone. I'd buy a H1 if they...

    Random items found in HMMWV

One of my trucks had about 15 spent 5.56 dating back to 89 and a bunch of spent 9mm marker bullets. And a live marker bullet. Would be kinda cool to shoot it but kinda wanna keep it too. Another had a first aid kit, bottle jack, scissor jack and a custom fabbed 1/8 aluminum sheet bent under...

    just bought a m1123

You can road reg any of these trucks lol. You can road reg a golf cart if it meets dot requirements.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The truck was starting a little hard when it got down in the 30s outside. Tested the glow plugs and one was dead. Swapped one off another truck and it fires right up now, no more pumping the gas to keep it from stalling when started cold. Now I know I should replace all of them but I'm not...

    200/400 Amp Alternator, Drawbacks?

What is your reasoning for getting rid of the 60 amp? It's more than enough for a stock truck and still has plenty of headroom for accessories. It's almost all headroom because the only draws on the truck are the fuel solenoid, whatever lights you run and the heater blower. Remember that at 24...

    Humvee won't start

Yeah it's normal when you load the pump by steering to hear a change in tone. It will also sound different when you hit full steering lock. (Which you aren't supposed to hold for long or it puts wear on the pump)

    Humvee won't start

That sound of a air leak is part of the fan system. When it hisses the fan is off and when it stops the fan is engaged. It's all part of the power steering system and the gold colored Cadillac valve by the washer resovoir that flips the fan on/off.

Shut hmmwv off and 10 seconds later wouldn't restart?

Probably a dead EESS box. Someone more experienced can chime in but that's what it sounds like. To bypass it and start the truck you have to give the fuel shut off solenoid 24 volts to keep the engine running and then jump the starter. And to shift the transfer case, you don't have to shut the...

    Budget HMMWV LED headlights review

I was thinking about putting on some of the aftermarket jeep headlights from Amazon but from $100-150 for the various ones with questionable durability (vibration, shock and water), I just got some of the military ones for 300. Only fitment issue was swapping the buckets because they came with...
