Hmm...methanol costs about $5/gallon now and 20% of you batch is methanol, so figure $1/gallon plus other ingredients (sodium hydroxide and the oil)...
The fine tubing is your high pressure feed to the nozzle. It comes from the small pump on top of your engine, which in turn is fed from the IP. Pressure is about 90 psi when turned on.
The fat tubing is your return line, which is connected to all the injector returns.
If not needed, install...
My guess is that the 1.5A charger has a built-in regulator.
Consider this, lead acid batteries sulfate when not fully charged. When you crank the engine to start, the batteries are immediately recharged at a high rate and remains fully charged (no sulfation).
If for some reason the batteries...
Congrats on your new truck and welcome to the site.
Do you have part numbers? Different alternators take different regulators.
Meanwhile, make sure you put a charger on your new batteries, don't let them sit at less than full charge for long.
The model number is an indication of the lifting capacity one meter from the pedestal on the old HIABs. 550 would be 5.5 metric tons or 12,100 lb at 1 meter or 6050 lb at 2 meters (about 6 ft).
Joel's crane was a 950 (20,900 lb at 1 meter) and my model 765, 16,830 lb one meter out.
Not the best picture, but remove the plunger screw/plug at the center of the hydraulic head and using a wooden dowel tap the plunger. The plunger rides on a cam that is in its top position 3 times per engine rev, so you may want to turn the engine over between attempts. Movement is about 1/4...
Good size crane Gimp, the older models are not easy to find spec for, my '75 HIAB is a 765A model and I can only find info on similar models, like 780AW. Look for the model # on the crane pedestal. The tags will give a lot of info also.
Another self contained unit, that's great...
Since you are considering a new one, start the procedure to remove the old one first. One step at a time, take off the fuel lines to the injectors get familiar with the territory and soon enough you'll know what the problem really is, the plunger may be stuck in the up-position and a light tap...
Some numbers would be nice, how much the power co will credit you for power put back on the grid, fuel consumption, cost of extra equipment etc, not to mention the noise factor.
Load testing and wetstacking are two different issues. You will have to select a generator with the capacity best suited for your load situation.
Wetstacking is not good for a diesel, but not irreversible AFAIK.
My gas powered MEP018 doesn't have that problem, BUT watch out for non-balanced...
FWIW, from PS magazine.
Even if the batteries are discharged, leave them in when jump starting, if you have nothing there and remove the jumpers, the alternator regulator will not survive the sudden loss...you may lose other electronics in the process too.
Click, click = bad connection(s) or dead battery. Yes, the sillinoid may be bad, but check the easy stuff first. Use a hydrometer to check the battery specific gravity for a real battery check.
Lead acids don't like to be discharged fully, a few deep discharge cycles and they are due for...
Yep, Will is one of the good guys, helped me on many occasions, including providing me with a generator on my cross country trip, a speedometer for my 757 and more. Thanks Will!
Nice job! I like the tilt feature.
There must be different versions of the M939 series battery boxes, I have a box (junk) that was installed under the passenger seat for four batteries from a '96 M925.
