There are three connections that must be intact for the gauge to work, ground, +24VDC and the wire to the grounded sending unit.
When power and ground are properly connected, an open circuit to the sending unit will give you full deflection and a short, no needle movement at all...
The heating was provided by running coolant from the engine cooling system through the tank.
I would recommend to use the biofuels in the Summertime only, the fuel gets to about 125°F simply from the return fuel and the ambient temp.
Starting on diesel and switching to veggie oil works good...
Josh, your installation is just fine, you have two separate paths from the water jacket to the pump and the condition of one does not effect the other as long as the capacity of the pump is not exceeded (not likely, unless there is busted hose or something like that).
The dwg below shows your...
The CFM that is seen by the air dryer comes from the compressor, about 7 in the case of the deuce and shouldn't be an issue. The instantaneous CFM demanded by Airpak, CTIS, tools etc is supplied by the tanks.
Agree with Rosco...why add components that will make the operation of the truck more dependent on the batteries... besides, it's not a bad idea to use an alcohol evaporator along with you "dryer" too.
My xm757 has 3 stages of air tanks and there has never been any moisture in the 3rd tank in my...
FWIW, the oil pressure gauge (also the fuel level) works on low resistances, about 30 ohms for 60psi. If the connection to the sending unit is cut, you will see a full deflection.
Increased resistance in the connection to the sending unit will through off the reading...
Agreed.
My HIAB is "military issue" and was installed on a NAVY International Loadstar when I bought it. It had a 6" steel channel piece on top of the frame, but not extending beyond the crane base, so it was apparently installed to improve the clearance only. I use a a 3" "spacer on mine to get...
My xm757 came with a lot of mods from factory, which were improvements over the then existing 2-1/2 and 5-ton trucks, one is a "silencer" momentary break bush-button switch (dwg below)...
If it actually was a short to chassis, then the starting would have nothing to do with it. My guess is that you had a poor, high resistance connection at the clamp-to-battery-post and the starting current generated the heat, melting the post.
Always check battery connections before starting if...
A problem, IMHO, with silicone based fluid is that it in fact doesn't absorb water. Any water (from condensation or whatever) will settle in low areas and can freeze, causing ice plugs.
I have mixed silicone and glycol fluids in a jar and they will simply form layers, so generally, you still...
..and also if you don't cover it and the pipe is good you'll be covering everybody and anything near with a sooty rain when you start her. yes, by all means cover the vertical exhaust(s).
Yes, got this from McMaster Carr and installed it. Has worked good for about a year now. Don't know the stock #...
When you install it, use long carpenter's style clamps to compress the heater "shells" (housing sections), the clamps holding it together can then be installed when the gasket is...
Hate to be the one to mention it, but the ground (returns) are all individual through the chassis and may effect just some of the lights while the (+) side to all lights are provided via the wiring.
Check your grounds!
