Catching up...I've got a wheel cyl for you Dave. You can also get the air filter off the other truck but please put your old one on mine. I want to leave the truck operational for now. You guys commented on CARC paint on a gasser. Dave's truck came out of Ft Belvior. I was amazed at how many old...

I just used this on an old dodge tank:

I followed their directions and used nuts and bolts to shake around inside to losen rust flake and lacquer to dry it out.

I always pull them together and maybe I've been lucky but I have never losened the manifold bolts. Someone told me that's how they do it at Memphis Equipment. Having the correct lifting bar and a gantry makes it all possible.
Jeff
RE: thanks all
yes mark, you need the boost for starting. chance wolf was correct on "the list"
i am still suppose to get a core motor from the guy i bought my tank from. it may have the boosters on it.

Have you tried getting a local shop to mix a match to Aervoe? Probably more expensive and you'll have to guess on the amount of flattener but just another thought. I don't know how much of a hurry you are in but Alan Hague might be able to order some fresh for Aberdeen.

I have a Mutt that I painted about 11 years ago with Avero 24087 and the color was very similar to the Randolf, dark green. I repainted the outside of the Mutt a year or so ago, also w/ Avero 24087 and it is lighter green, a change very similar to the differences in the two M548 shots. I think...

OK Bjorn, just an idea. Use a good primer and it won't matter what you use for a top color coat. Personally, I like Avero's 24087 better than Gillespie for color and if you add some hardener, it should hold up reasonably well but not too much or it'll get shiny.
Jeff
I don't think they give a price break until you get into a good quanity but I'll pay for a gallon if you want to check the price on four, delivered to your place. The gallons come in cases of four. I could get it from you later, at Aberdeen maybe.
Jeff
One more thing, Randolph is thicker to start with and goes farther.
Anyone remember the old Bell helmet adverts? "If you have a $10 head then get a $10 helmet."
If you have a 30 dollar truck then get a 30 dollar gallon of paint.
I painted my V-100 eleven years ago w/ Randolf and it still...
Bjorn
I will only use Randolph on anything I intend to keep. Price a gallon of automotive paint at your local supplier and Randolpf won't seem too out of line. Other things to consider: how much is your truck worth, how many hours of prep time have you spent on the truck, how much is your time...
He has a super nice one right now but I think it's sold. There's a real clean one in PA but the guy wants $60k. Mark Sonday just sent me an email about an unrestored one he wants to sell.
